"professor park? but didn't he just get the promotion 6 months ago?" donghyuck asks, reading the phone screen.

"ask taeyong, he might know," sicheng eyes his friend. taeyong sighs before explaining.

"i'm the only one who knows about this besides the higher ups so this is all confidential. but basically, there are two reasons. one is a malpractice suit. apparently, he did one procedure that wasn't appropriate and also one he wasn't familiar with so the patient 3 days later contracted an infection. turns out, the patient's body responded badly to the procedure, and also when reviewing the case, professor park just wrote in his notes "anything that will ease his pain."

"wait what, so he just did a procedure just to put the patient of pain," sicheng furrows his eyebrows at the statement. "which sounds kinda thoughtful in some way but knowing who he actually is..."

"what an asshole," doyoung mumbles. "you said there was a second reason, what's that?"

"ooh, can i explain this hyung," donghyuck asks his mentor for permission and he earns a nod.

"i heard this from renjun who heard it from some of the nurses but it turns out that professor park, who is married, was having an affair with lee hyeyeon."

"wait, the lee hyeyeon who is this hospital's chairman's daughter?" doyoung gasps.

"yes, and also she apparently persuaded her dad to give him the position," donghyuck finishes and just in time as they arrive at the empty lounge.

"well tayeong, how do you feel hearing this, considering that you were the other candidate?" sicheng asks his blank-faced friend.

"honestly, i knew something was suspicious when they chose him, considering his personality's shit and only cares about money. not to mention his dirty record but what can i do about it? it's the past," and he takes a drumstick, munching on it.

"well, would you try for it now? it's a lot of work added on to your already busy schedule," doyoung asks as he eats a wing.

"hyung, you should try it! you would be way better than the one previous," donghyuck excitedly suggests, sipping from his soda can.

"i mean, i admit that i want it but i... don't know," tayeong has a conflicted look.

"hey, speaking from experience, it is a lot but on the bright side, the pay is good," doyoung makes the group laugh with the last part.

who could forget kim doyoung, the youngest head of anesthesiology the hospital has seen.

"yes mr. prodigy," taeyong mockingly answers his friend.

"yah," and the male puts his wing in the air, threatening to throw at the male opposite of him. while sicheng and donghyuck are just laughing at the two's behaviors.

"jaehyun, i told you to try not to get into any unnecessary knife fights," taeil scolds the younger as he bandages up the injury on the torso.

"in my defense, he had his knife out first so how could i not put out my own," jaehyun winces when the doctor intentionally adds force on the bandage. "yah hyung, that hurt!"

"use those fancy judo skills of yours and do something with that. or something like that. this is the 3rd time this week that your wounds reopened," as taeil turns his attention to the other bleeding wounds.

"by the way, what are they gonna do with the guy we captured?" referring to the person who tried to kill him. "and the target?"

"we already know he's guilty of weapon and human trafficking so now we're just waiting for what the punishment is. as for the target, she's gone back to her family," taeil says as he gets up from his chair, closing his first aid box. "and this better be the last time i see a knife wound on you this month. otherwise, i'll give you the wounds myself."

"thanks, hyung" and jaehyun exits the medical cube, heading to his living quarters.

"are you ok hyung?" and he's greeted with the concerned face of the maknae.

"i'm good mark. how about you guys?"

"besides a few scratches, nothing major," johnny answers from his bunk. "oh and they announced the verdict for the dude. 50 years in prison, no chance of parole."

"serves him right, i can't believe people are capable of doing such horrendous actions," yuta mumbles as he cleans his gun. "it makes me sick."

"well, get used to it. that's what we signed up for when we agreed to be recruited for this," jaehyun says as he changes into his pajamas. "by the way johnny, what did the usa have to say with this?"

"they said as long as the person is convicted and also reasonably, then it's good. i mean, the person is also an american citizen but because of his dual citizenship, it's a sticky situation."

johnny, despite being korean himself, is actually not a member of the korean army. instead, he is a citizen of the usa, having lived there all his life. he met jaehyun when both were admitted into west point and from there was the start of a solid friendship. and when jaehyun was told that they would need an american recruit for the 707th group when they go to chasa, he knew exactly who to reach out to.

"see, this is the reason why needed you here," and jaehyun and johnny exchange smiles.

"ok, enough with the bromance you two," yuta throws a pillow at the duo, mark following after.

"oh god, my eyes," mark complains.

"ok ok, stop you two drama kings. by the way, what's for dinner, i'm hungry," johnny rubs his growling stomach, earning a look from the rest of the members. "what, they called us in the middle of dinner, of course, i'm hungry!"

"ok, well it's 1:27 am right now. and jungwoo is out of the base right now, meaning that we have to make something ourselves," yuta asks, feeling hungry himself.

"i mean, the only thing we all know how to make is ramen," mark points out.

jaehyun sighs and gets up from his mattress.

"i'll start the stove."
