doyoung was never the one to show emotions well. whenever someone in the group was crying, he would be the one to comfort them and reassure them that everything would be fine. whether it was sicheng crying about a patient he had lost, donghyuck crying about his doubts, or taeyong crying from his stress, it was always doyoung to be at their sides, hugging and providing the warmth they needed.
but now, the three were shocked when seeing the tears stream down the male's face, his nose red and lips quivering. they could tell he was trying so hard not to break in front of them.
"doyoung," taeyong approaches his best friend and doesn't waste a second to pull him into an embrace. and that was all that was needed.
"taeyong," doyoung whispered through his sobs. "i failed him. i failed jaehyun. i failed him again."
taeyong knew that this had something to do with doyoung's memories from his time in the military but he couldn't recall any mention of jaehyun from his stories. but brushing that aside, he keeps patting the other's back, just trying to provide the same feelings he gets.
sicheng and donghyuck join into the hug, enclosing taeyong and doyoung in their arms. doyoung quickly lets out all his sobs and when he quiets down, the hug is loosened and he wipes his eyes.
"thanks guys," he says in a shaky voice, sniffling.
"hyung, if you want, you can share what made you cry," donghyuck frowned at the sight of his hyung crying. as much as they may bicker, donghyuck always considered doyoung to be like his father (taeyong was his mom and sicheng would be the older brother).
"in the night," doyoung reassured them. "i promise to explain everything then."

"jaehyun, are you there?" johnny knocked on the wall next to him, hoping his voice could be heard through the cracks.
"johnny, you shouldn't be talking," jaehyun sighed. he knew about the punishment coming, but it never made it any better. "but what do you want to tell me?"
"do you think yuta and mark are fine?"
another thing is that while jaehyun and johnny were locked in the storage and pantry rooms, yuta and mark were probably put into the extra portables or something similar.
"i'm sure they're fine," jaehyun knew they were fine. he trusted his members. "now, what's your actual question?"
"how'd you know?" the surprise could be heard from his voice, even if no one saw his face.
"i just do, now spit it out."
"why did you do that? you knew that you would get in trouble but why? you even lost your chance of the promotion this time around because of this."
that was a good question, why did jaehyun do that? he knew what his consequences would be, but why did he put so much faith in taeyong?
"jeff, you still there," and that broke jaehyun out of his daze.
"yeah," he answered, still trying to find an answer. "we're soldiers, we have to defend the honor of our country, even if that means going against orders given to us. if it was reported that we had done nothing to help the president, who also happened to be the leader of the arab council, imagine how big that would be on us."
"that's not the full story," johnny knew that his captain was holding back on something, something he intended to make him put out. "and you know it."
