"what?! resign?!!"

"yes, please accept my resignation from the hospital," taeyong tells the director over a video call. "i have already sent my resignation letter to the hospital and they told me they are in the process of having it be verified."

"then what are you going to do after this," the director asks through the screen, stress and panic apparent.

"i don't have to tell you, it's my own business. but anyways, that's all i wanted to tell you. it was nice working at the hospital for all this time but it's time i want to work on my own."

after bowing, the doctor disconnects the call and leans back into his chair, the adrenaline still flowing through his body. he had just quit from the hospital his years of residency, internship, and career were done at.

"so, that's it?"

he turns around and sees doyoung holding a piece of paper in his hand at the doorway.

"i guess, my application to the military is already under review and because i already completed my time in the military, then it should give a boost, or at least that's what taeil said. anyways, what's in your hand?"

"something i want you to send because you're the only one with a laptop," doyoung hands taeyong the paper he had been holding.

"what is this," the doctor reads over the file and stands up in shock. "when did you do this?!"

"when taeil was sick," doyoung sheepishly smiles.

"does sicheng and donghyuck know about this?"

"well, they were the first people i told," and doyoung is immediately met with a hit on the head with the paper.

"why didn't you tell me until now?!"

"it was supposed to be a surprise!"

"well you definitely surprised me," the doctor puts the paper down and smooths it out. "but does taeil know?"

"no, and that's not something i'm prepared for. all i know is he hits harder than anyone i know and i'm trying to avoid that for as long as i can."

"why not just get it now," taeyong stands up threateningly and doyoung's face immediately drops.

"you're kidding right? wait, taeyong, help!"

"it's so weird seeing the medicube not crowded," yuta states. "i'm so used to the five of you guys bustling in and out but it's going to be so quiet when it's just taeil."

"jeez, stop making it sound like we're dying," sicheng slaps his boyfriend's arm. "we're all going to korea together anyway so we have that time."

"and what about after that?"

"well..." sicheng knew the answer but he didn't want to say it. he wanted to live in this dream for just a bit longer. "we'll continue to stay together, even if we're oceans apart."

yuta could hear the sadness in the other's voice but he chose to ignore it. instead, he just brings the nurse into a tight embrace.

"that's all i wanted for us."

the two stay in that position, feeling the warmth of each other's presence as yuta keeps talking. 

"you know, i already have plans for us. after going to korea, we can take a real date together, go shopping, visit a dog cafe, go ice skating, anything we wanted to do together, we can do it. and in the future, we grow old together and stay at each other's sides until the end of time."
