(still some descriptions of injuries. if you feel uncomfortable reading these scenes, you are always welcome to skip the chapter.)

the resident trudges through the terrain, trying not to cry at the sight of all the bodies on the ground. just seeing them made everything bad enough but hearing everything made it all worse.

"help, please!"

"my child, my child is injured!"

"my eye, please anyone!!"

"donghyuck, donghyuck, haechan!!"

the mention of his name made the resident snap out of his daydream and he was a sweating mark.

"are you alright? you were standing there for quite some time," the soldier looked at the younger in concern.

"i can't do this," donghyuck trembled and clutched on to his uniform. "everything, everyone is in pain..."

"haechan, look at me," mark grabs the shorter's shoulders and shakes them to snap him out. "then you can save them. go to them and treat them, save them, it's the least you can do."

"but what if i can't do anything? what if they turn out like my parents? i can't live with that guilt!"

"but can you live with the guilt if you do nothing?" mark shook the younger's body. "if you do nothing and leave them, they won't have the chance to live. now go, this is why you want to be a doctor right?"

with tears streaming, donghyuck nods and runs over to the closest person he can find.

"excuse me, sir?" donghyuck shakes the body but no response. immediately, he checks for a pulse and when he finds one, takes out his walkie talkie.

"injured patient, green band close to the manager's area," taking the green band, he ties it to the hand.

mark watches in awe at how fast the younger was acting like a professional. one moment, he's close to having a panic attack and now, he's ordering people to come get a patient.

"hello, sir, can you hear me?" he goes to another person and this time, a small grunt is given.

"ok, i will be checking for injuries and please feel free to make noise to tell me anything."

it wasn't long before the man let out a groan of pain when he felt his torso being pushed on. haechan noticed and immediately went on to gently pushing and prodding against the skin.

"i suspect that you have some injuries to the ribs, either they are fractured or bruised. i can't tell right now but are you able to move?"

the patient tried to move but immediately gave up when feeling the pain strike through his body.

"ok, seeing as you can't move, you will have to be transported by a stretcher. now, you will have to wait a bit because there isn't enough, are you fine with that?"

"yes, now you better go, there are people worse than me right now."

haechan ripped a yellow ribbon and tied it around the man's wrist.

"thank you so much for being generous," and donghyuck runs off to the direction of where another patient was waiting for him.
