the sirens wailed outside the window, and men in luminescent coats came barging through the door with a stretcher and medical kit it tow...

"a- and the last thing i remember- was- was the stretcher.. being carried away-"

tommy stared at you bewildered, not sure what to say.

"i think you need some rest y/n"

"no! no- i don't- i need- i need ivy"

"sweetie your talking nonsense.. come on we will get you to bed.."

"NO!"

a few minutes, or what seemed like hours, passed and the reflective strangers had not yet came downstairs. you heard muffled voices from upstairs. the distraught panicked voice of your mum. and a few other unfamiliar tones.

the moment they made their way downstairs, you saw the stretcher again. this time weighed down and carried by two men. you couldn't see ivy at all.

"m- mummy?"

"shush dear.." she replied quietly, thick streams of tears running down her face.

you saw her staring and the stretcher and realised what must be under there.

"t- th- the sheet- they covered her up-"

"what sheet? covered who up?"

you yelled out for your sister and ran after the paramedics.

"please... please tell me what happened to her.."

the woman told the truck to go without her and stayed with you to explain.

"you see sweetie, your sister was an angel."

"w- what?"

"your sister was an angel." she repeated

"every so often, god or whoever you beleive controlls the world, accidentally sends down an angel instead of a child into this world. your sister was one of those. you see angels don't fit in here. on earth. they don't like it. thats why angels mark their wrists. to show the god that they aren't meant to be here. eventually the pain of being here is too much, and they can't take it any longer. so they die, and make their way back to heaven or where ever they come from, where they can be happy. do you understand?"

"yes.." you said nodding your head.

"my mother was an angel. and she has already made her way up to heaven. just know that your sister will always be there for you. always keeping an eye on you and being your big sister."

"she was an angel.."

"yes, and if she were here still, she would be so proud of how brave you are being and how you are able to understand."

"she- she was an angel..."
