you walked quickly to the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror not daring to look up at your tear stained face. you grabbed a makeup wipe and pulled it across your face wiping off the majority of the stains across your cheeks. once you felt it had all been wiped off you looked up at the reflection staring back at you. her eyes slightly red and hair ruffled from sliding down the wall. you pulled the hairband out your hair and the reflection copied. you brushed it and scrunched it into a low plait falling down your back. you re-did a small amount of your makeup and watched the reflection walk towards the door and into the hallway.

downstairs you heard tommy and your mum conversing in happy tones, as though nothing was wrong with the world. you draped a smile across your face and walked into the room with them.

"oh you are just in time dear! dinner is ready!"

"thanks mum." you said warmly before taking yours and tommys bowls into the lounge.

"got anything you wanna watch?" you asked politely

"not really, put what you want on love."

you could tell he was still agitated about your meltdown, although he hid it well.

"im okay by the way" you whispered softly "I'll talk to you more about it later but i can't when mum is here."

he nodded and turned his ever so slightly less worried face back to the tv. you put on fuller house and turned the volume down slightly to keep it as background noise.

"oh i think I've seen this show before. pretty sure i watched it with will or something"

"oh thats cool, its like my favorite show."

you both sat down in the sofa next to each other and ate quietly for a while, before tommy asked.

"can you just answer this honestly for me a second?"

"yea of course" was your immediate reply

"have you ever been in love before? or thought you were in love?"

"it depends on your definition of love"

"if you felt love, you would know."

"then i believe not. have you loverboy?"

"i thought i was in love.. quite a long time ago. she made me feel like i couldn't live without her and she was a terrible girlfriend, but i thought i was in love with her. she obviously never was with me, nor was i with her.. but its that i believed that..."

"that mattered" you finished sighing the words that revealed a whole new side of tommy to learn.

"yea," he laughed "its a shit thing really, love, isnt it? you fall in it with no way out, and if the other person never falls in, or finds a way out, your left alone in love with a lost cause."

"wow i- i never thought of it that way i guess.."

silence fell as you finished your food and took the bowls into the kitchen.

"thanks mum it tasted great"

"no problem sweetie, you have any plans now you've eaten?"

"not as far as i know, but ill tell you if we do"

you re-entered the lounge with the intent of asking tommy if he had any plans, but when you walked in he was sat on the sofa scrolling through his phone. you sat down next to him, and watchee him scroll through his tiktok for you page. the first video you saw looking over his shoulder was an edit of you and him from the stream.

"seriously? you watch those? "

"well some of them are sweet.. "

you rolled your eyes and got comfortable on the sofa watching his phone from over his shoulder.
