Sarah's POV
I woke up with a massive headache. I put my hand on my head. Looking around I saw I wasn't in the comfy bed I went to sleep in. I was in a strange place and it looked like a dungeon. When I tried to sit up I found I couldn't. I was chained down.
"Help me!" I screamed into the darkness that surrounded me. No response came... at first.
"Oh look. The brat's awake." I heard from the outside of the cell. It was the voice I never wanted to hear again. The voice that has haunted my dreams for the past few weeks. The voice that belonged to my step-father.
He walked in with a sword in his hand and he said, "You really thought Ashley or as she's called now, Avery, could keep you safe?!" He laughed darkly, "She's going to try to find you and we will catch her. Then we will end you." My step-father smirked, "Now go back to sleep until I come back."
I stared at him blankly. He pointed his sword at me, "I said GO TO SLEEP!!"
I still stared too scared to do anything. All of a sudden he dropped his sword. He grabbed my shoulders and started shaking me saying, "Sarah! Sarah! Sarah! Sarah! Sarah!" Over and over and over. Then everything went black. When I woke up again I was back in my bed with Avery shaking me saying, "Sarah! Sarah! Sarah!"
I sighed in relief. It was all a dream. That's all it was.
"Are you ok Sarah? You were screaming!" Avery said clearly worried.
"I saw him again. I saw my step-father. I was in a dungeon. He said that you were going to try to find me and he would kill you, then me." I said and started crying.
Avery looked startled, but if was soon replaced with pity. She hugged me tight and said, "Sarah I promise as long as I'm alive. No harm will come for you. None. You will always be safe. I promise." That made me feel better. My cries started to die down and I felt safe. I haven't really had this feeling since.... well since before my mom met my step-father. The guard.
"What time is it?" I asked Avery, suddenly tired.
"About 2:30 in the morning, I think." Avery replied with a yawn.
I yawned then curled back up in my bed. Right before my eyes closed I saw Avery smile and kiss my forehead.
"Good night dear. May good dreams find you tonight so you have a peaceful sleep." Then she left. And strangely enough the rest of my dreams were good.
