Roman's was quiet, fiddling with his hands. The two were on break.

Roman had noticed, in the past few months, that Janus would get quiet at any mention of soulmates, and had been covering his right hand even when it didn't need to be. Roman also remembered him to be wearing gloves on three different occasions. Nevertheless, Roman checked both of Janus' hands discreetly. Still just the one soulmark - the same one that was on the back of his own left hand.

Finally, Janus spoke. "I...need to ask you something." he said softly, hesitating before reaching out and grabbing Roman's hand. "Well, tell, really, and then ask."

"Communication is key, darling." Roman smiled and brought Janus' hand to his lips, pressing a small, soft kiss to it. "What bothers my dearest so?"

A small smile appeared on Janus' face, and he appeared relaxed for just a second. "It's, uh... It's about Patton," he said quietly.

"Is our padre pal doing alright?" Roman asked.

"Yeah, he's fine, I just... He's gorgeous, and funny, and sweet..." Janus trailed off. "I...think I like him, too," he said, pulling his hand out of Roman's light grasp.

Roman blinked. "Huh?"

Janus stuttered. "You are incredible, and amazing, and stunning, and- Roman, I'm so sorry," he said. "Just say no."

"To what?"

"To me, to Patton and I- All of it. Just tell me no, so I can stop thinking that I- I have a chance..." A tear rolled down Janus' face.

"Hey, baby," Roman said quietly, sliding closer to Janus. "It's alright." He stopped for a second. "So, let me get this straight," he started, earning a tiny smile from Janus. "You like Patton?" A small nod. "And... you want to date him?"

"And you," Janus said quietly. Both of you, and I know that's selfish-"

"No, no, no, sweetheart." Roman planted a kiss on Janus' head. "If you've thought about it, and it's really what you want, then you can ask him."

"You... You're not mad?"

"Of course not, Jan." Roman rubbed his arm, giving him a small hug. "The only objection I would have is if it made you unhappy, alright?"

"You're sure?"

"Positive." Roman wiped away some more tears that had fallen from Janus' eyes. "Plus, this way I get to talk about how hot  you are with someone else."

Janus blushed and laughed, playfully pushing Roman away. "Oh, come on," he muttered, standing up.

Roman picked him up from the side, lifting him up and setting him on the table, running his hands along Janus' thighs as he press a string of long, slow kisses to his neck. "You know I'm right," he said, pulling him closer.

"So what if you are?" Janus muttered. "It's not like he's gonna say yes."

Roman moved back a bit, looking into Janus' eyes. "Kissing you is an honour, love, and not one Patton would turn down. Trust me," he said, his hands exploring underneath Janus' jacket. "I speak from experience."

Janus just sighed into Roman, not really wanting to argue. He knew that if he went too far with his self-loathing, Roman would be sure to prove him otherwise. Typically ending with a series of tiny, sweet bruises near his collarbone and neck. And since he didn't want customers staring weirdly at him today, he decided to just shut up, opting instead for letting his fingers glide carelessly across Roman's shoulder blades, occasionally running them through his hair.

His ruthless mind imagined Patton here, Patton giving him kisses, Patton holding him in his arms, Patton whispering quiet praise in his ear.

He wanted both of them. So, so badly.

Now he just had to get the second.
