The Prince went to the roof. Originally, he was looking for Logan, but eventually his eye was drawn to the skyline.

This was his city. His world. His kingdom.

And he would protect it, no matter what.

He heard someone walk up beside him and flinched a bit, only to look over his shoulder and see Illusion. He sighed, relieved, and looked back up. "Hey, Illy," he said quietly, smiling a bit.

"Roman," they muttered, offering him a short, curt nod of their head.

"Do you want me to bring you up to speed?" Roman asked.

"Virgil has explained it all to me," Illusion explained.

Roman nodded, looking back out into the sunset. "So this is really it, huh?"

"What do you mean?"

He smirked. "I mean that this is the end. We either win or lose. There's no in-between."

"Ah."

"And after this..." He rested his hands on the fence surrounding the building, a waist-high ordeal with a small metal handle running along the top. "I guess there's not really a need for us to...y'know, be Prince and Illusion. We can just be Roman and..." He chuckled. "Whatever your name is."

There was silence behind Roman. It stretched on for a second or two, then a few, then way too long to just be Illusion considering his answer.

Prince turned to check on him.

And came face  to face with Logan.

He stumbled back, into the wall before dashing to the side, looking around for his partner, his friend, his confidant. But there was only LoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLogan.exe

The man's head tilted to the side, a perfect 90 degree angle from where it should have been. A smile.

It was terrifying.

Prince tried to get away from LoggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggLogaaaaaaaaaloloaganaslonolagoaongonaonongnoaogonnngnognoagnogongnngnongnognognognonaghelpmeromanromanromanromanromanthisisntmeloggggganlogannnaaggololthisisloganloganloganloganlogan

Prince tried to get away from the man, but ended up tripping over his own feet in his haste. He scuttled backwards, the rocks on the roof digging into his hands. Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo The other man followed him slowly, head somehow tilting farther, his fingers running through an imaginary bucket of water.

"Oh, how I've longed for this day, Prince," he sneered in a voice that was far from his own. "Listening to you beg-"

"There won't be any begging tonight," Roman retorted. "Not from my end."

"How cute," LogLLLLLLLLLLL0000000000006466400401064 he muttered, laughing.

"Thanks," Roman hissed, finally getting to his feet. "I try to be adorable at all times, and I appreciate that you noticed."

Logan's eyes softened. "I always noticed," he said softly, before the angry look returned. "You can make this easy on yourself, Prince."

Roman didn't answer, having been thrown completely off-guard by Logan's voice.

His friend was still in there.

"Logan?"

Somewhere.

"Please."

"Logan's gone," he said with a frown. "And it's your fault."

Roman ignored...whoever that was, and walked forward, taking off his mask. "Hey," he started, completely unsure of where to go from there. "You...you know you can talk to me about anything, right? We trust each other."

Logan looked away, refusing to answer. His breath turned short and gasping, solidified by his shaking hands.

"I...I trust you, Logan. You've had my back since day one. You knew who I was - you know who I am. And you've never told anyone." He kept going, feeling his friend relax as he rested his hand on Logan's shoulder. "I trust you with my life, Lo. I don't know what's happening, or why - why it's happening to us. But..." His hand trails down, grasping Logan's. "I... I want you back." He started crying, softly and without any realization.

"I want the Logan that talked to me, and laughed with me, and lifted me up when I was down, and even when I wasn't, you'd still try to make me happy," he confessed. "I want my partner back. I don't care how long it takes, Logan..."

A short pause.

"I'm going to fix this. Because..."

Another pause. Longer.

And then Roman said something just as he realized it to be true.

"I love you."
