The bucket falls flat into the water in the well. The sound was a sound that should have echoed up the gray stone when I fall in but it is instead made by the bucket.
I glance sideways at Jungkook who was still glaring at me. I gulp and peer down the well to make sure the bucket was filled with water.
He then clicks his tongue and sighs.
"Meet me at our spot."
He then disappears like he was never there before. Like he never existed.
I have already filled the buckets. There is more I need. The sugar cane encloses me and the sky is inviting. My eyes then dawn upon the blue clad boy who was sitting at the edge of the cliff, staring into the scenery.
He recognises my foot steps and turns around with a wide smile. He then collects himself and puts on an angry facade, as I walk closer to him.
" I saw that Kook." I laugh as I sit beside him, putting an arm on his shoulder.
He looks away and pouts, controlling himself from smiling.
But my arm falls through and I look away, hugging my knees to my chest.
"I see that too."
Jungkook then shakes his head and looks at me, scrunching his face.
" What you did there was very dangerous hyung."
" Okay okay, I won't do it again." I sigh and flash him my boxy smile. Jungkook stares at me then looks away, smiling. No matter how much we fight, my smile saves me from his nagging.
"Jungkook." I call out to him. "What do you think of the sun?"
"The sun?" He raises his eyebrows and looks at me. "Why so suddenly?"
I turn back to the front and point at the ball of fire, floating away from us slowly.
"It looks lonely, doesn't it? Do you think it becomes sad because its lonely?"
Jungkook ponders for a while and shakes his head. " The sun doesn't feel lonely. The sun will be happy to see all of us jumping around and playing."
"But it has no one to accompany it. The moon has stars but what does the sun have? No one. Nothing. Many people hate the sun because the heat kills them. What if it rains because the sun is sad and crying?"
Jungkook laughs at me and shakes his head again. "That's is a cute way to imagine it I guess. But the sun actually isn't lonely. The sun gives off so much light and brightens up the day that the stars around it are not visible."
"The stars? The stars are always there?"
"Of course! They are always with the moon and sun so that it would not be lonely. The sun is a star itself, you know?"
"Its shining so brightly, since it is dying... isn't it?"
I stare into the sunset, my eyes wandering into the distance. The sun probably heard me, because it hid behind the waters slowly.
" You could say that." Jungkook lowers his voice and sighs. " The sun does looks lonely to me. It shines so brightly that even though there are stars around it, they are not visible. It shines brightly because it believes no one can cure the fact that it is dying inside. With no one around. In loneliness. People hate it even though it never did anything wrong. It was meant to exist for us, but nobody appreciates it. "
"I do."
Jungkook looks at me, caught of guard. "What?"
"I appreciate you Jungkook. Why would you think of such a thing?" I pout and pull him in for a hug. Jungkook doesn't hug back though.
"When you are older, you will forget about me Taehyung hyung. You will forget I even exist."
I slap his arm and frown. "I won't forget you Jungkook. I promise."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. I promise." I stretch out my pinky and Jungkook entwines his pinky with mine, and unknowingly, I seal a deal that I was bound to break.
