Your P.O.V.
The next day was very rainy, which seemed to reflect Vanya's mood. We had packed a few clothes and grabbed a taxi for The Umbrella Academy early in the morning. I was dressed in a formal black dress. The whole ride I watched Vanya quietly as she kept a hand on my knee and just looked out of the window sadly.
When we finally reached, we entered through the door. I saw a grand room. There was a chandelier on the ceiling with a coffee table right under it. There was a set of grand staircases going up to the rest of the rooms. There were wood and metal railing on the second floor and wooden arches with pillars. I was in awe of the grandeur of the room. Vanya walked around the table before going right, with me following. "Hi mom," she called out to a woman sitting in front of the fireplace. She was wearing a turquoise dress with a white apron. I stood next to Vanya and looked around the room. Right on top of the marble fireplace was the painting of a young boy, around my age. "Mom," called out Vanya again. The blonde woman continued to stare at the flickering fire, not responding to Vanya.
"Vanya," called another voice. We both turned around to face the new person, standing side-by-side. "You're actually here," the sweet voice continued. A woman was climbing down the stairs. She had curly hair that was parted on the side. She was wearing black pants and a blue top that I would literally die for. One word to describe this woman was gorgeous. "Hey Allison," replied Vanya to the girl. "Hey sis," said Allison. "And who might you be," asked Allison, turning to me. "My name is Y/N. Y/N Y/L/N," I replied calmly, sticking my hand out for her to shake. I wasn't overly emotional with her because she always excluded Vanya when they were younger. She chuckled and shook my hand before turning to face Vanya again. They looked at each other for a moment before hugging awkwardly. "Who is Y/N to you," asked Allison after they broke their hug. "She is my daughter," replied Vanya proudly, wrapping her arm around my shoulder and looking at me to smile. I smiled back at her before facing Allison again. Before she could say anything, another voice spoke. "Ah. What is she doing here," said the man's voice. I turned around to face the right again. I saw a man writing something that looked like a ninja suit. Hearing the tone of his voice, I glared at the man. "You don't belong here. Not after what you did," the man continued, crossing the room. Before I could reply, Allison cut in by saying. "You're seriously gonna do this today?" I was still seething as the man climbed up the stairs. "Way to dress for the occasion, by the way," she continued while looking at his retreating figure. "At least I am wearing black," he said before turning and disappearing from view. "Mom, was that Diego," I asked her. "Yes sweetie, it was," she replied. I nodded and looked at the ground, secretly thinking of ways I could kill him in his sleep using one of his knives.
Vanya looked at Allison and said, "You know what? I-- maybe he's right. And I shouldn't--." "Forget about him," cut in Allison, "I'm glad you're here." I smiled up at her slightly when she said that. Vanya and Allison smiled at each other. "So, daughter," she asked, looking down at me. "Yeah, I adopted her," replied Vanya, moving her arm away to grab my hand.
Together, we went back to the room with the fireplace. I saw a bunch of photos and interviews of The Umbrella Academy. I scoffed lightly when I noticed that Vanya wasn't in any of them. Vanya walked up to the bookcase. She pulled out her book from the shelves. I grabbed her hand as she sadly opened the book to the message she had written for her father:
Dad,
I figured, why not?
V.
As I gazed at the message, a voice cause both me and her to turn around. "Welcome home, Ms. Vanya," said a talking chimpanzee, who I assumed was Pogo. My suspicion was confirmed when Vanya replied, "Pogo." She walked up to him and hugged him. "So good to see you and this lovely young lady," said Pogo after they broke their hug, turning to me. I waved my hand a little. "Hi, I am Y/N Y/L/N, I'm Vanya's daughter," I said while smiling softly. He smiled back before looking at the book in Vanya's hand and saying, "Ah, yes, your autobiography." "Do you know, um... Did he ever read it," asked Vanya. "Not that I am aware of," replied Pogo a little sadly.
They both then turned to gaze at the young boy in the painting. "How long has it been since Five disappeared," asked Vanya. Five is an odd name, I thought to myself as I listened to Pogo's reply. "It's been 16 years, 4 months, and 14 days. Your father insisted I keep track," replied Pogo. The two continued to talk about Five and peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches. I moved forward to look at the painting more closely. The boy was pretty handsome, with black hair and dark green eyes. When I turned back, I noticed that Vanya had sat down on the couch. I sat down next to her and cuddled into her side. She gently wrapped her arms around me. Soon, a bunch of other people came in. A homeless-looking guy, who I assumed was Klaus, went straight to the bar. A huge man sat down in front of us, looking at me in surprise but not saying anything. Diego and Allison sat down in chairs next to the fireplace. An awkward silence filled the room. "Um... I guess we should get this started," said the big guy while standing up. "So, I figured we could have sort of memorial service in the courtyard at sundown. Say a few words, just at dad's favorite spot," he continued. "That monocle dude had a favorite spot," I questioned, causing snickers to erupt from everyone except the big dude, who looked upset. "And who might you be," he asked, clearly offended. "Y/N Y/L/N. And who might you be? No wait, I don't care. You already seem annoying," I said, smirking cockily. "Vanya, who is this kid," asked the big dude angrily while Diego chuckled. "She is my daughter, Luther," replied Vanya, causing Klaus to get away from the bar and say, "CONGRATULATIONS, VANNY!"
"I adopted her around 2 years ago," continued Vanya while smiling warmly at me. "Ah, you are Space Boy. I mean, I would sugarcoat what I have to say about you, but I'm afraid you'll eat that sugar and become even larger dipshit," I said while smiling innocently. "Dude, you just got burned by a kid," chortled Diego from his seat. I glared at Diego before sitting back down next to Vanya. Luther grumbled and said, "Anyway, his favorite spot was under the oak tree. We used to sit out there all the time. None of you ever did that?" Everyone looked at each other, confused. "*Cough cough* Daddy's boy *cough cough*," I replied, clearly faking my coughs. "Will there be refreshments," Klaus cut in before matters could get worse. "Tea? Scones? Cucumber sandwiches are always a winner," continued Klaus, smoking. "What? No. And put that out. Dad didn't allow smoking in here," replied Luther. I rolled my eyes. I lay my head on Vanya's arm and zoned out. "We're leaving, sweetie," said Vanya a few minutes later, glaring at Luther.
"What happened," I asked, disoriented. "He is blaming Dad's death on us," whispered Vanya in my ear. I rolled my eyes and said, "Maybe because of all that time in space, his brain cells have flown away." She chuckled at my remark while sitting down on the stairs. "Mom, I'm gonna get some coffee. Do you want some," I asked, turning towards the door. "No thanks, sweetie," she replied. I walked out of the house with an umbrella because it was still raining out. I plugged in my earphones and started listening to music. I opened up my Wattpad and found a really good Peter Parker fanfiction. I finally found a coffee store called Griddy's Doughnuts. I ordered a black coffee to go. When the coffee was done, I walked back to the Academy. "MOM, I'M HOME," I called out while listening to Lights Down Low. "In the kitchen, sweetie," replied Vanya.
I trudged down to the kitchen, reading and singing on the way:
Take it slow, put it down on me
I said jump on it, ride like a pony
Lights down low, time to get naughty
Lights down low, time-to-time to get naughty
Take it slow, put it down on me
Baby, jump on it, ride like a pony
Lights down low, time to get naughty
Lights down low, l-l-l-lights down low
"Hey mom, I know you said you don't want anything but I got you a chocolate eclair anyway," I said when I entered the room. I saw Klaus smirking, Diego chuckling, Allison rolling her eyes, Vanya trying to hide her laughter, and Luther looking scandalized. I looked back at the story while placing the take-away bag on the table. I proceeded to sit down on a nearby couch in the kitchen. "Y/N, do you understand what that song means," asked Luther. "I mean, duh? I have Wattpad. I read about stuff that you never even heard of, virgin boy," I said, taking a sip of my coffee after finishing my statement. Vanya burst out laughing, making the rest of the people start laughing too. I smirked and looked back down at the story. "Anyway, what is this family meeting about," I asked, finally putting my story aside. "Well," said a voice I didn't recognize. I turned towards the source and choked on my coffee.
After coughing for a few minutes, I cleared my throat and asked, "What the fuck is a teen Number Five doing in the kitchen?"
A/N: I had to, I've just seen too many tiktoks with that song
