Your P.O.V.

"I'm coming with you," I said, grabbing my backpack and running to Diego. "Fine, you both go. I'll stay here with-," said Luther before being interrupted by the door slamming. "This is not for little girls," said Diego as he ran towards his car. I ran next to him just as fast and said firmly, "He is one of my best friends, I am coming with you." Diego groaned and rolled his eyes before climbing into the car. I jumped into the passenger seat and pulled on my seatbelt.

We drove to the motel, and we walked to the hotel down a corridor. I noticed an open door and motioned Diego. He nodded and entered the door, me following right behind him. Diego started pulling off his gloves and ran into the room, shouting "Eudora!" I was about to tell him to not pull off his gloves and leave fingerprints everywhere, but before I could, I saw a dead body. I gasped in shock, bringing my hand up to cover my mouth. Tears sprung to my eyes, not only because of the dead woman but because of Diego's reaction. He was sobbing and looked utterly broken. I started crying seeing how the emotionally closed-off man was sobbing so brokenly over the poor girl's bleeding body. I looked around and saw that Klaus was not there. The poor woman must have been shot while allowing Klaus to escape. Then sirens started going off, signaling that the police were arriving. I saw how incriminating the scene looked and softly said, "Diego, we should go." He nodded slightly, murmured something soft enough for me to not hear, and got up. He grabbed his gloves, some bill on the side table and sadly walked out. I walked silently beside him, not wanting to make him feel worse. I watched as the sadness in his face turned to pure and undiluted rage. He sat down in the car and drove away. I sat next to him, keeping as quiet as possible.

He stopped in the middle of nowhere and sat absolutely still. I was about to ask him what he was doing when he slammed his fists on the horn, the sound making me jump. "I AM GOING TO FUCKING KILL WHOEVER DID THIS," yelled Diego, seeming to forget about me. He continued punching the horn, the sound thunderous in the otherwise deafening silence. The rage in him terrified me, but I swallowed my fear, trying to keep the panic at bay. I could let it out later when I was alone because right now wasn't the right time to divert attention to me. Before he could punch the horn again, I grabbed his arm as firmly as possible, fighting with my mind to keep the panic from washing over me and succeeding. Diego turned to look at me, anger still evident in his eyes and features. I pulled his arms down and hugged him over the partition between the seat. He froze for a moment, not comprehending what I was doing. He then proceeded to reluctantly wrap his arms around my shoulders. He then started sobbing, tears landing in my hair. I comforted him by rubbing his back as he continued sobbing into the hug.

"Cry as much as you want," I said to him softly, knowing how to comfort people in a time like this. We sat there for some time. Just two friends, sitting in the deafening silence, under a blanket of dark sky and twinkling stars.

Soon, Diego's tears subsided. "We should probably go," said Diego, voice raw. I offered him some water from my bag, which he gratefully took. He wiped the tears from under his red-rimmed eyes and half-smiled at me. "You know, you aren't too bad, doll," he said in a brotherly way. "You aren't too bad yourself, Buck," I said, referring to Bucky from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Diego seemed to get the reference as he chuckled and said, "Bucky? Really? Whatever, I guess calling you doll results in a name like that." "Hey, Bucky is freaking awesome," I said, laughing.

We smiled at each other while he started the car, and I realized he wasn't as bad as Vanya had thought. He was just closed off and in need of love. "Thanks for that. With Mom and Patch both passing, I really needed some comfort," said Diego as he looked towards the road. I was sad that Grace was dead, but kept the sadness out of my voice and said, "No problem Buck." He looked calm until we reached. Then, he suddenly became angry and ran towards his home. Confused, I ran after him. He slammed his door open. I ran in after him to see Diego being held up by Luther as he yelled, "GET YOUR APE HANDS OFF OF ME!" I giggled slightly, before realizing what was happening and trying to calm Diego. "Buck, he can do this as long as it takes for you to calm down. Maybe take a few deep breaths," I said calmly, holding my hands up. He calmed down, gritted his teeth, and said, "Fine doll. Now tell him to let me down." "Space boy, put him down," I commanded, making him put Diego down. I immediately ran to his side and gently and soothingly rubbed his back. "Now, let's calmly explain what happened to Five, okay Buck," I asked, looking at him intently. "Why are you calling each other that," asked Luther, referring to the nicknames. "It's a Marvel reference... a nickname," I responded, rolling my eyes at the obvious fact. "What she said. Anyway, Luther, our brother's been pretty busy since he got back. He was in the middle of that shoot-out at Griddy's, and then at Gimble Brothers, after the guys in masks attacked the Academy, looking for him," said Diego harshly, glaring at Five.

"None of which is any of your concern," said Five, making me glare at him. "It is now. They just killed his friend. Whether you want it or not, Five, we are all involved in this. People are dying here, and you need our help. JUST STOP REJECTING OUR HELP," I said angrily, looking at Five, who started back at me, surprised at my outburst. "She's right Five, who are those people," asked Luther. "They work for my former employer. A woman called The Handler. She sent them... to stop me. Then, as soon as Diego's friend got in the way, fair game," said Five. "And now they're my fair game. And I am going to see to it they pay," said Diego, his voice deadly calm. "Buck, no," I said, before being interrupted by Five saying, "That would be a mistake, Diego. They've killed people far more dangerous than you." "Yeah, we'll see about that," said Diego, walking out.

I sighed, tired of these people's acts. I heard a horn blaring and knew what caused it, but decided to give Diego his space. "Former employer? What's this really about," asked Luther. "It's a long story," said Five. Luther sat down in front of him to signify that he is listening. I sat down next to him on the bed. He then told the whole story. Luther got up in the middle to make Five a sandwich. "So, you were a hitman," asked Luther after Five finished, handing him the sandwich. "Yes," replied Five, taking the sandwich. "I knew it," I said, making Luther groan and roll his eyes. I  proceeded to tune out the conversation, opening Wattpad. I started reading a Peter Parker x reader fanfic. "I'm going to the Academy. I need to find Klaus," I said, walking towards the door.

I left and walked to the Academy. I reached there, soon enough, having enjoyed reading while walking. I looked around a little before reaching the bathroom. There, I saw Klaus laying in the bathtub, looking like he had died and come back to life repeatedly. "Oh no, Klausy," I said, rushing to his side. I gently rubbed his back. Sobs wracked his body as he placed his head on my shoulder, the tears soaking through my clothes. "Klausy, what happened," I said soothingly, trying to calm him down. "He-- he-- he died," he said, voice breaking. He then began sobbing again, making me make soothing noises while trying to comfort him. "Klausy, how about you go change, and I'll make you some coffee and we can sit and talk," I asked. He didn't reply, just nodded his head. I gently kissed his head then went downstairs to grab the coffee beans that I had stolen from the supermarket with him from my bag. I made the coffee, making an extra cup in case Five came home.

"You okay," I heard Five's familiar voice ask as I walked up the stairs. Deciding to give them a few minutes alone, I went downstairs to get the last cup of coffee, placed it all on a tray, and came back up. "And the next thing you knew, you were... where? Or should I say when," asked Five as I came back to Klaus's room. "Here, Klausy. Here, Five," I said, handing them both cups of coffee. "Thanks," said Five, while Klaus just stared blankly, as if he was living a nightmare. "What difference does it make," asked Klaus blankly. "Okay, how long were you gone," asked Five as I started at the two of them while sipping at my coffee. "Almost a year," replied Klaus. "A year," said Five incredulously.

"Do you know what this means," asked Five, gazing intently at his brother. "Yeah, I'm 10 months older now," replied Klaus, making me silently laugh despite the situation. "No, this isn't any sort of joke, Klaus. Hazel and Cha Cha will do whatever they can to get the briefcase. Where is it now," asked Five, looking around the room. "Gone. I destroyed it. Poof," said Klaus. "What the hell were you thinking," asked Five angrily. "Leave him alone, Five, can't you see how exhausted he is. Maybe just let him rest for a moment and ask him questions later," I whispered to him. He sighed angrily but left the room. I tucked Klaus into bed, kissed his forehead, and said, "Good night, Klausy. I hope you feel better." Little did I know that as soon as I left the floor, he would get up and leave with Diego.

I walked out to see Five intensely writing something on a piece of paper. "You're coming with me," Five said, pointing towards me.
