Meredith became aware to something leaning over her.

Her eyes were still closed but she was pretty sure she knew what that something was. It was something with dark curly hair, bright blue eyes, a scar on his forehead and a face she had somehow memorized in the past couple of months. It was also the exact same way she seemed to wake up every time she had a day off and he wasn't on a road trip. Him leaning over her, completely full of excitement like he expected her to do something special because it was her day off.

She should probably be annoyed by it all but it was kind of cute.

"You can open them at any time."

"Sleeping," she murmured, under her breath, cursing him in her head for knowing her too damn well.

"You're talking."

"Talking in my sleep," she sighed, closing her eyes tighter, scrunching her nose as he leaned in, almost to inspect her closely.

"You don't talk in your sleep. You snore. But you don't talk."

"Oh....aaaaahhhhhh....shooooooo...." she breathed, knowing he probably wouldn't fall for a fake snore but it may be worth a try to get to spend a little bit longer in her nice warm bed, her nice warm boyfriend stretched along her.

"Meredith!" he laughed warmly, pulling her into his arms. "Up."

"No, Der, sleep," she tried to protest, cuddling into his chest, enjoying the warm he offered and the soft, steady beating of his heart. "Sleep."

"We slept all night," he groaned.

"Yes, that's the point of night. And now we can sleep in."

"But...if you wake up now I'll make you breakfast."

"And you'll still make me breakfast if I get up in an hour, you're you."

"Well...okay...but...there's things I want to do today," he argued, squeezing her tightly. "Things that are going to involve you waking up."

"I...I've always said if you have to wake up early to do it, it's not worth doing."

"You've never said that."

"Of course I have. You just...we've only been together like...a little over two months, just because I haven't said it to you doesn't mean I don't always say it. I do. I say it all the time. Ask my friends, my friend will tell you I definitely say it all the time."

"And with that ramble...you're definitely awake. So open them."

"Open what?"

"Your eyes, Mer."

"Oh," I giggled, still keeping them tightly closed. "No. No, I don't think so."

"But Mer, I want to take you skating today."

"Skating..." she breathed, her eyes suddenly popping open as she wondered exactly why they had never talked about this before. He was a hockey player. He had told her weeks ago that he had started skating around the time he started walking, of course he wanted to go skating. Except she definitely hadn't bothered to tell him she had no idea how to skate. She figured that wouldn't go over that well.

"There you are," he smiled, kissing her gently. "Morning."

"Morning," she nodded, leaning forward to kiss him again, going with the inspiration that had struck when his lips had met hers. She could distract him. They were both already naked, he had his morning hard on, she could distract him with sex and suggest a day spent naked in bed together. Sex was excellent for distracting men.

And she would just distract him for the next few months, until the ice all melted and she could break it to him gently during the off-season or something.

"Hmmm..." he groaned against her lips. "You wake up quickly."

"I want you," she whispered, lowering her voice, trying her best to sound as turned on as she was pretending to be. He wouldn't fall for this if he thought she was trying to distract him.

"Okay, I'm flexible," he murmured, rolling her onto her back. "Definitely flexible."

"I know," she giggled, running her fingers through his hair, kissing him deeply again as he slipped his tongue into her mouth, rubbing his body along hers, rocking his hips gently. She groaned softly, not all that surprised that pretending to be turned on hadn't lasted all that long.

"But later..."

"Later," she agreed, running her hands along his back, moaning at the feeling of his body working over hers, his thickness rubbing between her legs. "Der..."

"Hmmmm..." he groaned as he slipped into her, the two immediately falling into a slow rhythm, her hips raising to meet his soft thrusts. She closed her eyes as her body began to tighten at his soft touch. She loved morning sex, she adored morning sex. She moaned softly as he pushed deeper into her, his length demanding further entry into her as he held her close. They got lost quickly in the motion, tangled in each other's arms.

"Mer..."

"Der...Der..." Meredith gasped as the world around her disappeared and the orgasm washed over her, his following soon after.

"Morning," he laughed breathlessly as he slipped out of her.

"Morning," she giggled.

"That...that is definitely my favourite way to wake up," he smiled, kissing her softly.

"Hmmm..." she nodded, shifting him again to cuddle into his chest, nuzzling her face into the soft hair that sprinkled along it. "I love you."

"Love you too," he whispered and then shifted again. "And now it is time for food and skating."

"Oh...yeah...skating time," Meredith nodded slowly. "You...or we could...sex, Derek. We could have lots and lots of dirty sex. All day. Sex non-stop all day. That could be fun."

"You don't know how to skate."

"I...what? Of course I do. Who doesn't know how to skate?" she giggled, hoping she didn't sound nervous. "I know how to skate."

"You have no idea how to skate."

"I...no, not really. I mean...not at all."

"I'll teach you."

"People have tried before, Der."

"Well...they were people. They weren't me. I can teach you. It will be fun."

"Fun?"

"Yes, fun," he nodded and then smirked. "And if you fall on your ass, I'll just have to kiss it better."

"So we're going skating."

"We're going skating."

"This is not going to go well, Der."

"I...you don't want to go?" he frowned slightly. "Because I could...or I guess..."

"No, I'll go," Meredith heard herself quickly cutting in. "But it's just...I'm a klutz when it comes to that kind of stuff so the teaching thing might...it might go really badly."

"I'll buy you a beavertail and Timmy's if it does."

"Oh."

"Oh?"

"I just figured I was getting a beavertail and Timmy's anyway," she giggled softly, before kissing him. "Go make me breakfast."

"I have no idea what you did before me," he laughed as he pulled away.

"Lived a very boring and starving life, Derek Shepherd!" she yelled to his retreating back. "That didn't include bruised knees!"

Derek laughed as he walked out into the hallway and Meredith fell back onto the bed. It wasn't that people hadn't tried. She had lived her entire life in Boston and Ottawa, skating had been a popular activity and people had tried. But she always ended up falling, she never managed to do it. Ever. Her abilities just didn't include skating or something and Derek was definitely going to regret volunteering to teach her.

This was going to all go very very badly.
