Chapter Twenty One

Back to the Vatos

▬ First Person- Shane’s P.O.V ▬

I ran, my legs never ceasing to stop their never ending cycle of motion, my mind never straying from my one single thought: Run or die. My lungs felt as if they were on fire and my heart pounded against my chest, eager to break out of it’s cage. It was a strange sensation, being in such excruciating pain but unable to stop moving. Some unknown energy forced my muscles to continue working and have me continue on  through the walkers. My eyes looking straight in front of me, not daring to even look in the corner of my eye. I need to keep my eyes front so I could weave through walkers effectively, one turn and I was sure to be dead despite how tempting.

How could they forget me? Were they in that much of a rush, in that much of a panic that they did not even hear the sound of my jeep wrangler horn blare? I had abandoned it and took my chances running, hoping to catch up with one of the vehicles regardless of how ridiculous the idea was.

Let’s face it: I was a dead man.

Just when I abandoned all hope, the R.V came swerving back into my vision headed in my direction, skidding to a stop just a few feet away from me.

I could feel a humongous knot tying in my throat, but the sight of the R.V had given my hope and I powered through it, pushing through the agony. As I grew closer to the R.V, the door slid open and I could see Glenn ushering me to hurry up and to ‘come on’. With one last push I practically soared into the R.V, judging by the noise, the door sliding shut right behind me.

     “LET’S GO! LET’S GO!”

Throwing the bag of guns to the floor, I began to sink down using the sides of the R.V to support me as I could feel my muscles give in. Spluttering, I placed a hand on my chest as if it were going to help me breath as I began to catch my breath with heavy breaths.

“HOLD ON!” Rick hollered to Glenn, slamming his foot down and turning the wheel causing the R.V to swerve a one eighty as it began to race forwards, gradually losing the walkers who were attempting desperately to have at it, along with every living soul inside.

     “Shane!”

Raising my eye line I saw Ellie stood up, relief flooded her sharp, stunning features as her mismatched eyes appeared to be on the brink of tears. Quickly, she snaked through the two conjoined passenger seats (one of which was occupied by Lori and Carl) and the driver’s seat.

“Hey.” I barely managed to get out, my voice cracking from my raw throat and my breathing still staggered. “Hey, h-h-hey-” I stumbled over my words before I was able to get them out without stammering like a maniac, worrying her even further. “Hey El, come here.” I ordered, now laughing out of relief before Ellie conformed, sinking down in front of me and wrapping her arms around me tightly. “C-C-Come h-here Ellie,” I was full on laughing now, my feeble attempt to cover up the fear I had felt and the adrenalin pumping around my body. But determining by her actions and silence, I could tell that she could see through my act like she always could.

     “Shane-”

“I’m fine,” I assured her, inhaling the sweet scent of her dark waves that he knew oh-so-well. Unsure of who was the one trembling I felt the need to confirm it again. “I’m really fine.” I reassured her and partly myself as I backed out of the hug.

“Thank God you’re okay….” Ellie breathed out, her eyes twinkling with tears before she scurried to the spot beside me. “If you weren’t I’d-” she started.

“N-N-No you wouldn’t, d-d-on’t even say w-what you’re gonna say Ellie.” I interrupted her, not bearing the thought of her being cut up over me. Without a word, she buried her face into my shoulder, clinging onto me for dear life. No doubt blaming herself for this situation, she did have that awful habit.

     Silence.

“Rick,” I started, clinging onto Ellie with equal measure. “God.” I exclaimed with a shake of my head. “They may be slow but  they….they don’t tire man they just….” I trailed off, clearly aware of my hyperventilation. “They just keep coming.” I finished.

“Good thing to know.” Rick nodded with a level head from the driver’s seat, gazing out at the road laid in front of him. If this had been another occasion I would have cracked a joke about how he didn’t need to keep his eyes on the road anymore…that only an idiot would crash with no other cars on the road.

“Thank you.” I thanked gratefully, none of these people knew how grateful I was. My eyes darted around the room, connecting eyes with everyone in the R.V: Glenn, Rick, Lori, Carl, Andrea, Dale and I would have connected eyes with Ellie too if she hadn’t concealed herself in my shoulder blade.

“Don’t thank us,” Ellie backed out of hiding and glanced upwards, her words caused me to squint at her. “Thank Daryl.” She advised me. Daryl? “He started honking and yelling his head off, woke me up.” Everyone laughed but it wasn’t a genuine laugh, it was a laugh of relief. Rotating her head so that she was facing forwards, she locked her eyes onto Rick. “Rick,” she addressed him. “You got any moves left?” she queried.

     “I got one.”

“Is it good?” I enquired perking up, straightening my back up against the walls of the R.V to get a better view of him in the wind mirror.

“Occurs to me we’ve got friends in this town,” Rick thought out loud sending me into confusion along with everyone else before a gasp erupted out of Glenn. “Glenn, Ellie: What d’ya think?” Rick questioned them, questioning his own judgement.

“Yeah!” Ellie and Glenn chorused after sharing a brief look. “What’s the worst that can go wrong? They feed us to their dogs?” Electra interrogated Rick dryly, bringing a small smile onto Rick’s face and a soft chuckle from Glenn whilst everyone else shared a look of confusion.

“It would buy us some time…..” Rick carried on, rationally. “And shelter too, until we figure out what we’re doing’.” Rick added, reasonable causing Ellie to nod her head from beside me. I, along with Lori, Dale and Andrea turned my head to look at Glenn and Ellie, expecting to be provided with an explanation.

“A-da-u-” Glenn stammered, realising that his three way private conversation had confused everyone else. “The nursing home!” he explained causing Andrea to raise an elegant eyebrow at him. “The- the old and homeless people.” He elaborated.

     “The vatos!”

“The people who took you hostage?” Dale questioned with his wise eyes narrowed in misunderstanding, Glenn simply just smiled and nodded at him as if it was a perfectly reasonable clarification that he had given me and the rest of the R.V inhabitants.

“We parted on good enough terms.”

“Good.” Dale scoffed with a small smile on his face. “’Good enough’” he repeated Rick’s words. “Doesn’t bawl me over with confidence.” He admitted to everyone.

“You- You weren’t there.” Ellie jogged Dale’s memory. “You didn’t see the way Rick handled things.” She said with complete admiration, making me wonder whether Ellie’s feelings for Rick had begun to cloud her judgment, that was dangerous tertiary these days.

“They’re out friends.” Glenn nodded, standing up for Electra and Rick with an adamant attitude that I wish I could share. “They’ll take us in.” he stated with full confidence.

With no objections, Rick drew the R.V to a pause by the side of the street. Raising to their feet, everyone hoped out of the R.V door. Immediately, those with weapons locked and loaded. Everyone’s guard was up even higher than it was before we had visited the CDC. Hearing the other vehicles pull up to the pavement, I pivoted in their direction with Ellie by my side. Their owners wondered out of their vehicles and headed towards us to see what was going on.

“What’s up?” T-Dog queried loudly as he shut the door of his vehicle, clearly confused along with the rest of us. “Why are we back here?” he interrogated Rick who just continued to stroll forwards causing everyone else to eventually catch up with us as we followed his lead.

“The people at the old folk’s home.” I could hear Ellie behind me, presumed to be walking beside T-Dog. “There are our friends.” She ensured. “They’ll take us in,” she sounded as if she were nodding, but again, judging from the silence T-Dog was not convinced. “They have to.” She reinforced. “They owe us, remember?” she said curtly before joining me back at my side.

“Barely looks like they’re hanging on,” Andrea commented with crossed arms as we continued to advance forwards. “What makes y’all think they’ll take in strangers?” she asked smoothly. I couldn’t help but to agree with her point, the place looked dead.

“Well, all the guns we gave them,” Ellie turned her head at the voice as did I to see Daryl wielding his crossbow, his quiver slung over his shoulder. “They’ll probably throw us a party.” He hypothesized as he passed on Electra’s right hand side. “Was a good call.” He continued, now on the same pace as Rick, giving him a side long look from a bit aside him. “For once.” He added before passing Rick out too.

Everybody sneaked past a huge, tall old wall that outlined a huge wide open space that appeared to be the front of an abandoned factory, where vans would often port to deposit the stock and equipment. A weird place to go to look for a nursing home.

“Where are the look outs?” Glenn put his question to no one in particular with panic in his voice causing me to spin my head to look at him. He was turning his head too, frantically scanning the area for something or somebody. “They were here last time….” He trailed off.

“This way.” Rick ignored Glenn’s worrying and continued to lead the group around the corner of a wall, probably seeing if they had changed location of their look out zone. Turning the corner myself, my facial expression dropped in horror at the sight of a walker who seemed to have not yet noticed our presence.

     “Son of a bitch.”

Continuing onwards, we came across numerous other walkers that appeared to be feasting on dead bodies of animals. The whimpers erupted out of the women as they grabbed hold onto their children and loved ones in fear of the walkers that were.

“Oh good lord!” Ellie breathed out in exclamation as Stacie walked straight into her and wrapped her arms around my sister who responded by holding her head before the walkers looked up having noticed the group. “Stacie, go back, go stay with Carol alright?” Ellie said pushing her in the direction of Carol who took Stacie’s hand and her daughters whilst the walkers began to rise up to their feet. “To hell with the noise,” Ellie stated causing Rick to nod in agreement. “Fire at will gentlemen,” she commanded. Rick took the first shot directly in the head of a pale skinned woman to be joined by the others and I but a second afterwards.

“Come on.” Rick urged them onwards as the last walker dropped to the floor and Stacie returned back to Ellie’s side. “Follow me!” he ordered in a shout causing everyone to do just that. He led us in through one of the other entrances, prepared. Down corridors that lead off into more and more corridors, it reminded me of the CDC with the whole never ending corridors ordeal. Whimpers began to come from Sophia, following her eye line I saw that she was whimpering at the sight of the dead as Rick lead us into some kind of cafeteria. “Keep your voices down! Let’s go.” Rick ordered as Sophia’s whimpers began to become sobs.

“Put a sock in it!” Daryl span around on the spot to face the whimpering girl and growled at her, thinking that that would help. “What the hell is this crap?” he barked as Carol took her into her arms and glanced at Daryl in shock of his words.

“You leave her alone!” Carol hissed in a whisper defensively, following Rick’s advice as she held Sophia tightly allowind her to cry into her, but Carol’s words were no match for Daryl’s.

“You shut her up or I will!” he warned in a low, guttural, threatening voice which even made a shiver  go down Electra’s spine and only made Sophia cry more whilst I clenched my jaw.

“You back the hell off, and I mean now!” Electra half whispered- half shouted in Sophia and Carol’s defence as she held Stacie securely by her side. Daryl breathed angrily as he looked around from Carol to Stacie to Sophia and finally to Electra who stood her ground, staring directly into his eyes as he did hers. Breaking the eye contact, Daryl’s breathing returned back to normal.

“Are we staying or going?” Thea questioned timidly, with the intention of breaking up the fight before it started and got on to the important stuff.

“We don’t have the fuel.” Rick pointed out.

“We lock it down for the night,” I suggested, stealing everyone’s attention away from Rick. “Okay Rick: You, me, Daryl we’re going to sweep the building.” I addressed Rick only. “Make sure we’re not alone.” I added causing Rick to nod in agreement.

“You two!” Rick turned, staring and pointing at Glenn and Dale. “Barricade those doors.” He ordered them, both Glenn and Dale shared a look of uncertainty before taking their orders and heading off towards the rooms to scavenge what they could. “Ellie?” Ellie’s head span in his direction. “You stay behind here.” He told him. “Look after them all, all right?” Rick placed the responsibility onto Ellie and I swear I could have sawn Lori narrow her eyes at her.

“Whatever.” Electra shrugged, flustered at the whole situation. “Sure.” She agreed breathily. “Y’all be safe now, ya hear?” Ellie commanded like an overprotective mother as she wrapped her arms around myself and Rick at the same time bringing us together.

“Yes ma’am.” Rick replied sternly before turning to Daryl who was left on the outskirts of the group. “Come on guys,” Rick said causing us to run down the corridor and disappear from the rests sight.

▬ Third Person- No one’s P.O.V ▬

“They’ll be alright, honey.” Carol squeezed Electra’s arm as she watched her brother and her best friend sprint away until she could see them no more.

     “I sure hope so.”

“Hey El?” Glenn called causing Electra to turn her head ever so slightly. “You feel like helping us here?” Glenn and T-Sog asked attempting to push a metal operating table out of one of the rooms nearby. Returning to reality, Electra sprinted and opened one of the double doors which was blocking the way before helping pull it into the corridor.

“Guys, look out,” Electra warned Andrea and Lori who had just finished blocking the windows with some planks, sending them to walk out of their way allowing the operating table to be placed in front of the doors.

Before everyone could take a breather there was a familiar growling sound. Without a word everyone sunk down to the ground, Sophia breathing heavily out of fear whilst holding Carl’s hand. Carl put his hand to his lips before mouthing a ‘It’s okay’ to Sophia causing her to calm down a little before the walker left.

     “Come on.”

“Upstairs is our best bet, we’ve cleared a few rooms and we can barricade those if we have too,” Rick droned on as Electra was analysing every last detail of the room. She couldn’t help it, she was observant. It wasn’t the dead bodies which were bothering her- it was how they had been killed. “We’ll be alright,” Electra heard Rick assure everyone, catching her eye line.

“Do you really mean it this time?” Carol asked sceptically causing Electra to involuntarily raise an eyebrow at her. Carol was usually pleasant and nice, but her tone made it sound almost malicious. “Or are you just lying to us like all the times before?” she enquired, putting him on the spot.

“That’s unfair,” Lori shook her head. “And no help at all,”

“What the hell happened?” Glenn asked looking as depressed as Electra felt. Slowly, she began to opened her mouth to express her concerns about the bodies but she was unable to come out with the words she wanted due to Andrea answering first.

“Isn’t it obvious?” Andrea asked, her back turned away from the group as she studied the bodies herself. “They got overrun,” Andrea stated causing a ‘Pfft’ sound to come out of Daryl’s mouth. “Got something to say?” she asked him annoyed.

     Not again.

“Yeah.” Daryl shot back at Andrea. “How about observant?”

“Observant?” Andrea repeated looking amazed at Daryl. “Big word from a guy like you,” she commented. “Three whole syllables,” she mocked him. There was now a cold chill felt by everyone around the room, as they stood in silence just watching.

“Walkers didn’t do this,” Daryl commented. “Geeks didn’t show up until all this went down,” Daryl commented walking around the room. “Somebody attacked this place, killed all these people, took whatever they wanted,” Now it was Andrea’s time to say ‘Pfft’.

“No.” Electra said to Andrea with a shaking of her head causing Andrea to arch an eyebrow. “He’s right.” she said level headedly. “Look at them, really look at them.” she instructed and everyone did so. “All shot in the head,” she pointed out to them all.

     “Execution style.”

“Y’all worried about walkers?” Daryl questioned them all drawing everyone’s attention away from Electra except Andrea and Rick. “I’d be much more worried about the people who came and did all this,” Electra caught Rick’s eye line or a brief moment. “Get a dictionary,” he said to Andrea. “Look it up,” he added. “Observant,” he gestured to himself and Electra before walking off.

“Alright.” Rick coughed, drawing everyone’s attention back to him. “Y’all go upstairs, me and Shane will go and see what we can find.” He dictated causing everyone to follow his words.

Humming nervously, Electra tapped her fingers against the rough wooden floor that her along with the rest of the group were sat on awaiting the return of Shane and Rick. From time to time she would look up and catch everyone staring at her probably guessing that she had gone bonkers. She hadn’t. She was restless and worried. She hated being left behind especially when Shane had gone on the errand. For some reason she felt like she shouldn’t let her eyes off of him ever again, like a restless mother. He could have died today.

     He could have died.

“I ransacked the kitchen.” Shane informed them causing Electra to look up as he entered the room along with Rick. “All we found was, urm-” he hesitated as everyone stirred nervously. “One can….” A frown edged upon everyone faces as he twirled the can in his hand as he sank down next to Electra.

“They hit the dispensary too, ripped the door off its hinges,” Rick told us causing Carol to sigh deeply, it seemed like they were out of luck. “Took everything except this.” He handed something to Lori.

“Came back for cough drops and….” Daryl started before reading the label off of the can Shane had brought. “Garbonzo beans.” He scoffed before slumping down to the ground.

“Is there any water?” Stacie asked hopefully causing Shane to look down into his rucksack and pull out a bottle of water throwing it up in the air before catching it.

“Just one bottle I brought,” Shane told her as he unscrewed the cap for her. “Just a few sips, okay honey?” he passed too her. “Make it last, gottta go for everybody okay?” he looked at everyone individually before heading back to his rucksack in the centre of the circle yet again.

“What else have you got in there?” Andrea questioned curiously as Stacie took a few sips from the water bottle before passing it to Electra. Looking down at the water briefly, she decided that she shouldn’t take a sip. Not until everyone else had had one anyway. Quickly, she forced it into Rick’s hands frightened that she might change my mind.

“You have to drink Ellie,” Rick tried to pass it back to her.

“Salty snacks,” Glenn smiled as Shane rattled a packet of something he had found in his bag.

“And I will.” Electra told him strongly. “After everyone else has had their sip,” she enforced, not wanting him to start a loud argument that Shane would get into and force her into drinking. She did not making any sign of taking the bottle off of him. Sighing, Rick passed it on to Carl keeping his eyes on Electra the whole time.

‘Stubborn son of a bitch’ Electra thought to herself, shaking her head as I turned my head away from Rick, fully knowing that he had done that to prove a point.

“Courtesy of the CDC,” Shane laughed throwing the packet into the centre of the circle. “Hmmm, thought I’d be having midnight snacks in my air-conditioned room, then it’d be dinner,” he threw the other packs, throwing one to Electra. With much effort, she managed to open them and offer some to Stacie and Rick (who this time accepted) before taking some herself. She couldn’t help but smile at Glenn’s poor attempt to ration out the one can of garbonzo beans on paper plates for thirteen hungry people, feeling a little sorry for him. “And last but not least,” Shane pulled out a bottle of wine which caught everyone’s eyes.

“Is that to share?” Daryl questioned Shane eagerly, still chewing on his food. ‘God. Between Glenn, Daryl and Stacie we had the messiest eater ever.’ thought Electra

“Seeing as how I owe you my life….” Shane started with a sigh, fiddling with the bottle in his hand. “Guess I ur….so I’m gonna go ahead and be nice to you.” He stated passing Daryl the bottle.

“Yeah, I think I earned the first swig,” Daryl agreed opening it.

“I’d go easy on that stuff,” Electra advised them with warning, warily catching Daryl’s attention. It must have been the first time he had looked at her. “Let’s not forget where we are.” she reasoned level headedly, keeping her eyes in that direction.

‘Like we did the night before last.’ she added on mentally.

“Yes mam.” Daryl caught her eye and held it for a long while, much to her surprise. Was this a mind game or something? Either way, she held his gaze knowing clearly that Shane and Andrea were studying their interaction for some unknown reason. Well….we had been acting pretty odd.

     The tension was too much.

“A word?” Electra asked abruptly, shooting up to her feet the instant the words had come out causing everyone to stop what they were doing and stare up at her. “Please?” she ignored their stares and looked to Daryl.

“Sure.” Daryl said casually before taking a huge swig of the bottle before placing it back down in the centre of the circle. “Why not?” he asked himself loudly under his breath as he rose up to his feet.

Electra regretted the words the instant they had flowed out of her mouth, but she knew it was bound to happen one time. She had chosen one of the rooms that joined on to the main room and stood by the doorway so they had enough privacy, but didn’t look suspicious.

“Er……urm…..eh…..” Electra stumbled under her words in attempt to fine the right ones causing Daryl to raise an eyebrow at her. “A-About last night….” She started off hesitantly once more, failing to look in his eyes and she found herself swaying in her shoes. “I-”

“We both had way too much to drink.” Daryl cut her off, predicting that the conversation would probably not progress if he left the talking to her. “You were drunk. I was drunk.” He stated. “We were alone and things happened that shouldn’t have happened.” He specified.

“Yeah, you, uh, pretty much summed it up right there.” Electra agreed with a nod. “It was a mistake on both our parts. I will not be getting drunk ever again.” She finally looked up at Daryl who had his arms crossed across his chest and was leaning back on the wall.

“From what I remember….you started it.”

“Oh yes.” Electra agrees causing Daryl to cock an eyebrow out of shock of her words, terrified of what her next words were going to be. “Sorry.” She held her hands up. “I was just overcome by my lust and desire for you, I couldn’t help myself.” She mocked rolling her eyes.

“You’re not the first one to have woman.”

Electra’s jaw dropped and hung open for a little while before she let out a short laugh. Out of disbelief, she raised her hand to playfully punch him but reconsidered at the sight of him flinching.

“Says the guy who was a virgin until two nights ago.” Electra scoffed causing Daryl to groan and practically face palm himself as he looked down.

     “Did I seriously say that?”

     “Yep.”

“Oh God. What else did I say?”

“Erm….” Electra thought back before cracking up out of laughter of the memory. “I remember you saying that you had cried yourself to sleep.” She giggled causing Daryl to groan.

     “God-damn.”

“Do you seriously not remember anything at all?”

“I remember you telling me that when you were twenty two you-” Daryl started causing Electra to stare at him mortified.

     “Are you serious?”

     “Yup.”

     “Oh man.”

“Daryl! Ellie!” Glenn’s voice sounded from within the main room causing Daryl and Electra to cut their conversation short and return to the main room. When they were they were handed a small amount of garbonzo beans on separate plates. “Here ya go.” Glenn said as he carefully passed Electra her plate. “It’s not much but-” Glenn began to excuse himself quickly.

“That is lovely.” Electra interrupted him crouching down on the floor. “Thank you very much Glenn.” She smiled at him before pecking him on the cheek and sitting down again.

“What’s next?” Lori questioned everyone who was still in the main room as Electra carefully ate the beans from her plate. “We need to decide.”

“Fort Benning.” Shane stated, sounding like a stuck record to T-Dog, from his spot on the floor. “Rick?” he asked for the opinion.

“Ellie?” Rick questioned whilst nodding his head, agreeing with Shane. Shocked, Electra glanced up at Rick then to Shane then nodded looking back to Rick.

     “Fort Benning.” Lori stated.

“I should have listened to you Shane,” Rick sighed. “Would have saved us a lot of grief is I had.” He commented causing Electra to glance at the floor as she pushed her plate to one side.  “Jacqui……would still be alive.” Rick stated causing her to stiffen up.

“It was her choice man.” Shane reminded the obviously guilt-ridden Rick. “Do not take that on.” Shane warned him standing up.

“It was her choice.” Lori confirmed causing Andrea to squirm from her seat in the corner having not engaged in the conversation. “It was her decision to make, not yours.” Andrea looked off into the distance thinking about how Dale had practically forced her into her choice. “No more than it was with Jim.”

“All these people.” Glenn commented with a blank expression staring into his empty plate. “Who would do something like this?” he asked curiously and out of disgust. “Just swan in here and murder everybody, even all the old people…” he shook his head. “How sick is that?”

Much to Electra’s surprise Carl and Stacie were not extremely phased by this, it was as if Glenn’s words had completely passed over their heads. But Sophia looked and felt uncomfortable, obviously phased by the whole ideal as everyone else looked grim.

“Is this something we need to be discussing right now?” Lori questioned Glenn with malice in her tone as she patted Carl on the back.

“Better if we, uh,” Rick began as she got up onto his feet. “if we got some sleep, huh?” Rick suggestion and the women and children (minus Electra) conformed whereas Glenn, Electra, Rick, Daryl, T-Dog and Shane made their way to a different room.

“Hey.” Shane brought Glenn back to reality causing his eyes to focus on him rather than the ceiling. “Kids in there are terrified, and the women.” Shane told them.

“And men.” Electra added curtly, hating how the men may treat the women well but make it seem as if they were all fragile housewife’s.

“Guys, I’m really sorry.” Glenn apologized sincerely, he really did felt back but things tended to flow out of his mouth uncontrollably.

“We’re all rattled and exhausted.” Rick stated, lifting a little weight off of Glenn’s shoulders as Daryl took a swig of the bottle. “No one’s thinking clearly, but we have to start….our lives depend on it.” He stated with a level head causing everyone to nod grimly.

“You’re damn right.” Shane agreed with an aggressive nod. “Can’t never let our guard down ever again.” He told everyone as he moved himself along with the lantern into the corridor. “Back in camp, having us a fish fry with no one on watch….people died…..maybe didn’t need too…..” he sighed sadly as they came across Dale and T-Dog whom now had possession of the wine bottle having been passed it by Daryl.

     “Fort Benning, that’s the consensus.”

“Anywhere but here.” T-Dog shrugged casually as he took a swig of the wine bottle before offering it to Electra who just shook her head, repulsed by the sight of alcohol.

“We’re wasting fuel, driving so many vehicles, we need to lose a few.” Rick said wisely. “We’ll syphon the gas out of any cars we don’t take- should get us free of the city.”

     “Would be a start.”

“Let’s just try to get a little shut eye tonight, alright?” Rick proposed before handing the lantern too T-Dog. “T, I’ll spell you in an hour.” He nodded at T who straightened up as they all continued down the corridor.

     “Night.”
