Chapter Twenty Six

The healing hands

First Person- Electra’s P.O.V

“Shot, what do you mean shot?”

“I don’t know, Dale.” Glenn responded to Dale’s question as he reached the railing of the highway. “I wasn’t there.” He explained as he climbed over the railing with ease. “All I know is this chick rode out of nowhere like….like Zorro on a horse and took Lori.” He informed Dale as the rest of us crossed over the barrier, it felt good to be back at the highway. Despite how much I hated it, the highway was a thousand times better than being out in the forest.

“And you let her?” Dale quizzed, aiming his enquiry at Daryl in amazement as he was the last to climb over the railing with a slight grumble. Of all people to blame, Dale chose Daryl…I nearly laughed at it. Why would Daryl take any responsibility for Lori? Why would he take responsibility for any of us? I wasn’t implying that he was an awful human being or anything, he was a decent guy but it just surprised me that Dale would think this too seeing as all the other survivors had their doubts.

“Climbed down out of my asshole, man.” Daryl scoffed whilst I set Stacie back down on the ground, her eyes were still a little puffy from her crying but she had stopped now and had seemed to have cheered up a little. “Rick sent her.” He informed Dale who seemed to calm down at that statement. “She knew Lori’s name.”

“I heard screams.” Dale told us before he turned to Andrea. “Was that you?” he questioned the blonde but she continued to pass by him,  quite clearly not wanting to speak to him so I chose to explain to Dale why not rather than leaving him in the dark.

“She got attacked by a walker…..it was a close call.”

“Andrea, are you alright?” I could clearly hear the concern dripping from Dale’s voice as he turned to follow her. Pivoting herself, Andrea turned to glance at Dale not giving him an answer before turning back to the R.V and climbing inside, slamming the door shut behind her.

“I’ll go talk to her." Thea said kindly, sending a small smile to Dale who still looked stunned and hurt by Andrea’s actions. “See if she’s alright…try to help her think straight, she’s probably still a little shook up.” She supposed before taking hold of Stacie’s hand, probably sensing the conversation to come. “Come on Stacie.” She ushered, pulling her along with her as she entered the R.V.

“Just give her a little time to calm down.” I instructed Dale with a serious look, placing a hand on his arm. “When I said close call….I meant pretty damn close…..way to close for comfort.” I stated. “We weren’t anywhere near her, she must have wondered the wrong way and we got there just in time to see that chick save her life….” I retold. “I’m sure we can trust her with Lori.” I assured everyone.

“Well thank God for her.” Dale exclaimed, with his hands on his hips. “Why weren’t Rick, Shane and Carl with you guys, anyway?” he enquired curiously.

“Shane, Rick and Carl said they were gonna hang back and search the Baptist Church we came across and the area around it for another hour whilst we would continue searching.” I explained. “They were meant to catch up with us but then…..” I trailed off with a sigh, not wanting to face it quite yet.

     “Carl got shot.”

“Poor boy.” Dale commented with a frown. “Lori and Rick must be going out of their minds with worry and pain.” He sympathized causing my eyes to flicker down to the tarmac. “Wait,” he said causing me to raise my eye line again. “You don’t know where they are?”
