"...and, yeah. that's basically what happened." you smiled. as relieved as you were to finally speak the truth to those closest to you, you couldn't help but feel anxiety bubble inside of you.

you watched the expressions of those around you morph drastically. confused? upset? sad? guilty? relieved?

after a minute of awkward silence...

"why am i honestly not surprised?" remi sank into a blob on the table. you ran through billions of scenarios through your head. you didn't predict that.

"n-not surprised?" you awkwardly patted her back, unable to properly react.

"of course you'd do that for me. i'm so stupid for thinking all those confessions were the real you..." she teared up, her lip quivering. "you did all this for me and sengoku?"

"sengoku and i*." you corrected. remi grumbled. "i really am sorry, though, you guys. it wasn't right for me to meddle in your love life, or lie to.. everyone." their expressions softened and you could tell they weren't as hurt. "also, you don't need to say much more. i already know that wasn't the.. best approach."

"that's an understatement," miyamura piped in.

"shut uppp," you playfully pushed your boyfriend,, no quotations, no cap. "you're the one that only agreed, 'cuz you're a simp."

"s-simp?"

sengoku kinda zoned out. processing... processing... processed! "wh.. y-you-?! liked me??"

"well, it was more like a temporary infatuation," you admitted. sheepish. "i guess you could put it that way objectively but, looking at the whole story, i probably couldn't have liked you at all. my interest in your 'real personality' faded as soon as i met miyamura-kun."

you laughed. sengoku looked depressed.

"hey!! you're not allowed to be sad about that!" remi squeaked in protest. "you have me!"

"seriously, though," remi said again. "he wasn't bothered at all by the rumors at the time."

you laughed, "really?"

sengoku shook his head, a bit red.

things were returning to normal, with a plus one.

"thank you, (y/n)."

things didn't take the turn you had predicted, but who cares?

you leaned into izumi's side.

this is the start of a new chapter. a revised one.

an eternal one.
