Butterfly

You stood out the most when you walked into the room graciously. Each pair of eyes were on you but you didn't mind any of them as your beautiful brown orbs were glued to mine.

The result that came out after you found my eyes in the crowd was a perfect sight. A beautiful smile curved on your lips as you leaped yourself towards my direction. I observed the way your teeth was showing, your soft brown hair bouncing slightly, your eyes showing excitement, and your arms reaching to hold me tight.

Your hug was definitely the warmest I have ever felt. It felt so right, the way you snaked your hands on my neck as you tiptoed to give a peck on my cheek before hiding yourself in my neck. I felt chills–the good chills holding you close to me as I gently tighten my hands on your slim waist.

People were staring at us with envy looks but neither of us care. We stayed in that position before the bell interrupted our bear hug making you whine quietly. I reluctantly let go of you to get back at my seat but it seems like you had other plans. You held my wrist as I let out a bewildered expression. Once I looked into your alluring eyes, I knew right then and there that we would be skipping classes and I have no complaints for it. Spending my time with you doing wacky stuff is definitely the highlight of my day than listening to lectures.

You dragged me outside the classroom and we sprinted once we heard the teacher calling our names. I intertwined my fingers with yours as I led us at the back of the school into the forest and onto our spot– an abandoned swimming pool.

We reached our spot panting heavily, loud giggles echoed the place and hands tightly holding on to each other. We plopped down on the brown mattress that was already here when we discovered the place. You laid your head on my lap placing our intertwined fingers on your pounding chest while my other hand started stroking your silky hair soothingly. You let out a soft sigh before closing your eyes enjoying the warm ambiance the area is giving.

I watched as you drifted off to sleep and when the sunlight hits your side profile, I abruptly stopped stroking and lifted my hand to protect you from the sunlight and not disturb your sleep. I take in your unique features as I grabbed a strand of your hair away from your peaceful face. Your long eyelashes, the mole under your left eyebrow, cute buttoned nose, puffy cheeks and lastly, your soft, full and luscious lips. Everything about you is flawless including your lively and spirited personality. Your beauty is utterly overwhelming me in the best way.

You were irresistible that I made a lingering kiss on your cheek. You automatically smiled with your eyes closed. You squeezed my hand that you held on your chest mildly and get up from my lap facing me with a full gummy smile. You tugged my hand and let you guide me to wherever your hand takes me. We ran giggling every time we locked eyes as the sun shone light on you making you glow effortlessly and the birds chirping softly served as our background music.

I want this to never end.

I am still in awe of what was happening around me. This feels too good to be true. To be able to hold your hand that no one has ever done because you were too unconquerable. But I stepped out of my comfort zone and approached you with a kind smile as you did the same. From that day, it has always been you and me and I hope it will forever be us together, doing whatever we want freely.

So I beg you to not disappear on me. Stay by my side. Be with me. I'm terrified that all of this is just a dream. But it's not as you are tightly holding my hand still running into the depths of the forest. Sometimes, I want time to stop and let me savor my moments with you alone in this world. I'm scared of losing you. I'm scared that if I let go of your hand even for a second, you would be gone forever. Like a butterfly flying away from its home, not coming back and off for an adventure all alone.

You are very dear to my heart that you bring so much happiness. So please, reassure me that you won't be far away from me. Negative thoughts are clouding in my mind and only you can save me from the darkness I've been hiding in for a long time.

I didn't know I was spacing out till you stopped running and softly cupped my cheeks with a worried expression. I closed my eyes and leaned into your warm touch that made me sigh in relief.

You're here with me. This is real.

You kissed the corner of my lips and rubbed your thumbs across my cheeks lovingly. That small gesture  made all of my stressful thoughts go away and I slowly opened my eyes to give you my big smile.

You always know when I'm overthinking.

You're right in front me looking ethereal. You absolutely take my breath away. How do you do it? You're getting prettier as time goes by. I'm afraid of what the future holds. But as long as we're there for each other, we'll be okay. I'll be okay.

I was about to open my mouth to tell you my thoughts but you pulled my head down as I felt your long and meaningful kiss on my forehead. With that reason alone, I knew the answer that I've been searching for. The message that doesn't need words to describe behind that kiss. I knew what you were trying to tell me and I'm thankful for it.

And so I followed. For the rest of the day, I'm only focused in the way you poetically described the nature surrounding. Your sultry voice I couldn't get enough and our hands never letting go of each other wherever we go. I'm only thinking of you, us in this world of ours. Whatever tomorrow holds, I'm only hoping to greet with the same smile you displayed when we first met.

Chaeng, wake up. Open your eyes. It's your butterfly. Your home.
