Chapter 14: A Broken Hero

Zueki's POV
Pain jolted me awake. I could barely move! I tried to sit up, but the piercing pain in my side and shoulder prevented me from doing so. I looked around and realized that I was in my room! Back in Paris!

I noticed a few different things. First off, I was covered in bandages and wearing a black t-shirt and athletic shorts. Second, the nightstand next to my bed had a fancy looking water bottle on it, along with two or three different bottles of medication.

Had I been sick? I thought. I once again tried to sit up, but couldn't. I tried to speak, but my throat was really dry. Suddenly, my door opened slowly. I looked at the ground and saw Moonshine.

I moved my hand slightly, but pulled it back in pain because of my shoulder, and she seemed to notice. She bolted out of my room, back downstairs. Well, looks like I scared her off. Just great. I thought.

I could hear her meowing very loud. As if she was trying to get someone's attention. I suddenly heard footsteps walking up the stairs. Moonshine entered the room once more and jumped on my bed and she began licking my face. I smiled as I saw Trey walk into the room behind my cat. Trey looked at me and his eyes widened. He looked like he was going to cry.

"Shark! Yuma! Get in here!" Trey said as he bolted out of the room. Within seconds, Shark and Yuma ran into my room. Yuma walked towards me slowly. He kneeled next to my bed.

"Zueki... My daughter... You're okay!" Yuma said, tears falling down his face.

I nodded slightly. Shark walked forward and grabbed the fancy looking water bottle off of the nightstand.

Yuma backed up a little bit so Shark could kneel next to me.

"Zueki, this is some purified water from the Barian spring. This should help your throat." He said.

I smiled and once again, I tried to sit up on the bed. This time, however, Yuma helped me. I winced in pain, because my side still hurt. Shark handed me a small cup filled with the magic water.

I gladly drank it. Once I was finished, I was able to talk.

"Thanks." I said, giving the cup back to Shark.

Yuma put his hand on my shoulder and looked at me.

"Zueki, we were so worried about you. Are you okay?" Yuma asked.

"Yeah. Aside from the injuries I got, I'm okay." I said, smiling. But even though I was trying to mask my feelings, it didn't work. Tears began running down my face and I started crying.

Yuma leaned forward and hugged me while Shark gently ran his fingers through my hair.

"Sh-She did horrible things...but she was coming for you...s-so I had to..." I couldn't finish my sentence. I was crying too much.

"It's okay Zueki. Eva can't hurt us anymore, I promise." Yuma said, gently stroking my back.

"I....I-" Suddenly, a piercing pain hit the area on my side where I was cut.

I cried in pain and agony. Shark and Yuma noticed and immediately laid me down on my other side. Shark cut some of the bandages off and began examining my wound.

I was gripping my sheets so hard and tears were endlessly running down my face. Yuma kneeled down next to my bed and put his hand on the side of my face.

"Breathe Zueki. I promise it will be over soon." He said, wiping away my tears.

Yuma got up and said something to Shark that I couldn't hear. Shark nodded and then leaned me up slightly. Yuma sat down on my bed, then Shark laid me back down, so now my head was in Yuma's lap.

I tightly clenched my fists and closed my eyes.

"M-Make it stop! MAKE IT STOP!" I screamed.

Yuma gently rubbed my arm. "It's okay Zueki. Focus on what I'm saying, and it'll be over soon." He said in a soft voice.

I suddenly felt a burning pain. I yelled as more tears fell down my face. What the hell was Shark doing!?

"Please stop! I'm begging you guys! STOP!" I screamed.

"Okay sweetie, it's over. We're just going to bandage you up, then you can rest." Shark said.

He kneeled down in front of me and wiped away some of my tears. He leaned forward and gently kissed my forehead and told me he was sorry he caused me pain.

Shark and Yuma gently sat me up and Shark began wrapping the bandages around me while I laid my head on Yuma's shoulder.

"Dad... What time is it?" I asked.

"It's 2:48." Yuma replied.

I opened my eyes and looked at him. "What were you planning on making for dinner?" I asked.

Yuma smiled and looked back at me.

"There were actually a few people coming over for dinner tonight, so I was going to make the curry. Why?" He asked.

"Cause I wanted some curry." I said.

"Okay, I've finished putting the bandages on." Shark said, standing up.

"Question, how long have I been out for?" I asked. Shark sat down next to me. "Zueki, you've been out for about two and a half weeks."

I turned my head to Yuma. "Is Astral okay?" I asked with hopeful eyes.

"Astral is still healing inside the key. He came out a few days ago. Don't worry, he's going to be okay." Yuma replied.

I smiled, then turned back to Shark.

"Can I have my Miraculous back please?" I asked.

Shark smirked, then took the necklace out of his pocket and handed it to me. "No transforming until you're COMPLETELY healed, understand?" Shark said.

I nodded. "Don't worry, I doubt Violet would let me." I said with a laugh.

Shark and Yuma stood up off the bed. "Well, we're gonna let you rest a little bit before dinner. I'll come up and get you when it's time for dinner." Shark said, helping me lay down.

I replied with a nod as I closed my eyes. I was happy that I would be able to enjoy some food and catch up with everyone, since I haven't seen them in about a month.

"Zueki."

I opened my eyes and saw Shark standing in front of me.

"Sweetheart, dinner's almost ready. Yuma told me to come and get you." He said.

"Okay." I mumbled as Shark helped me sit up. I put my arm over Shark's shoulder and he wrapped his arms around me, and picked me up.

He began walking down the stairs, and when we turned the corner, I saw lots of familiar faces. I saw Dumon, Mizar, Vector and Alito. And of course, Yuma.

The four Barians that were currently sitting at the table looked shocked when they saw me.

"Hey guys. It's been a while." I said, sitting down.

"It's great to see you're okay Zueki! How are you feeling?" Dumon asked.

"I'm actually feeling pretty good!" I said with a smile.

After a little bit of small talk, we began eating dinner.

"Zueki, I have something to ask you." Shark said.

"Okay, shoot." I replied.

"Well, how would you like to be princess of Barian world?" He asked.

I froze and dropped my spoon on the table. Shark, wanted ME to be princess of his kingdom?!?!

"Of course, we'd have to wait until you're older, and you'd need some training once you're better. What do you think?" Shark asked.

I still stayed silent. My face expression was still showing I was shocked.

"No way!"
