Chapter 22: Spark of a new rebellion

Then I felt lots of wind in my face. Like, A LOT.

I opened my eyes and saw myself and Zane falling towards the city from out of the sky!

"Zueki! What are we going to do?!" Zane asked as he panicked.

"Uhh... Give me a second." I said, trying to think of something.

"We'll be DEAD in a second!" Zane yelled.

Without thinking, I focused some of my Barian energy into my hand and held it out. I grabbed Zane's arm and just before we hit the ground, I released the energy, helping us land safely.

I got up off the ground with Zane, and I felt a cramping pain in my hand. Zane noticed and asked what happened.

"I think doing that might've strained my hand a bit, but I'll be fine. I can ignore the pain for now." I replied.

Zane sighed. "We've been here for what? Two minutes? You're already hurt."

I punched his arm with my good hand. "Shut the hell up Zane! I said I'd be fine!"

"Zueki!"

I turned around to see Dennis calling me from an alley. "Dennis! Where is everyone?! Are they okay?!" I asked immediately.

"Come with me! The others are at the hideout!" He said.

Zane and I ran over to Dennis and followed him to this hideout he was talking about.

Dennis led us to an old building, then took us into one of the sewers.

"Honestly, I don't know what I was expecting when you said hideout." I said, climbing down the ladder.

After following Dennis for about two minutes, we made it to this cleared out part of the sewer where I saw mostly everyone.

"Well here's what's left of the so-called 'rebellion'." Dennis said.

I looked around and saw Rio sitting next to Quattro, who had a bandage over his arm(thank God they were okay), Yuri, who was laying on the floor with bandages covering his chest, Yuto and Yuzu, Dumon, who was leaning against Mizar, Yusaku, Ryoken, who had a few bruises and cuts, Yusei, who had bandages around his hands, Atticus, Trey, Kari, who had a bandage around her knee, and Quinton.

Zane saw Atticus and ran over to him with tears in his eyes.

"Zane!" Atticus said as Zane tackled him in a hug.

"Atticus! I-I'm so glad you're okay!" Zane said, smothering Atticus with kisses.

I laughed a little, but my smile faded as I turned back to Dennis. "Where are they?" I asked.

Dennis gave me a sad look. "We don't know where they're at. Eva has taken control over almost all of France, and we all went into hiding because she targeted anyone who was related to you, or someone who was a close friend. We've been looking for them though."

I gave Dennis a sad smile. "Thanks for looking out. It's good to know that everyone is trying their hardest to stand against Eva and her thugs." I replied.

Dennis walked over to Yuri and sat down next to him.

"Yuri, I'm back." He said, holding onto Yuri's hand.

Yuri slowly opened his eyes and looked at his boyfriend. Yuri reached his hand up and placed it on the side of Dennis' face.

"Hey, you okay?" Dennis asked.

"Well, my side hurts like hell." He replied.

Dennis gave Yuri a sad smile and kissed him softly. "I know it hurts. It's my fault that it's there in the first place."
