Chapter 26: A Warrior, Revived

Shark's POV

I saw Astral and Zueki unfuse, and I was hoping I'd be able to see her, but I couldn't.

"We need to get out of here!" Alito said.

I looked at him. "Right. Yuma, remember the drill sequence we went over?" I asked.

"You can't be serious Shark! I told you I couldn't do it!" Yuma told me, giving me a worried look.

"Yuma, I know you can do it! Trust me!" I replied.

Yuma hesitated before nodding his head. "Alright. Alito, Girag, Mizar. You guys will have to carry our share while we create the path, okay?"

The three Barians nodded. Yuma and I gently let our shields down as they used more of their energy to keep everyone from being crushed.

"Now Yuma!" I said as both of us used our Barian powers to create a tunnel that led from where we were at to the forest where we'd be safe.

"Everyone in!" I yelled.

Everyone else quickly ran into the tunnel, Dennis carrying Zueki's body. Yuma fell to his knees transforming back into his human form. I gently picked him up.

"You three! Come on!" I yelled.

Alito, Mizar and Girag lowered their shields and ran into the tunnel as the rubble began falling. I followed them, the tunnel collapsing behind me. Yuma buried his face in my chest as I ran.

"We're fine Yuma. I won't let anything happen to us." I said.

We had made it out of the tunnel, and all of it had collapsed. That was good, because now if Eva had come for our bodies, she couldn't follow our path.

I walked over to the group after de-transforming. We were in a clear spot surrounded by trees, so I knew we were safe.

I leaned against a tree as I saw the sun beginning to set. It would be night soon. Yuma came over and sat down in front of me, then leaned against my chest.

I put my hand on his shoulder. "You were scared when you saw the tunnel collapsing, weren't you?" I asked.

Yuma looked up at me with tears in his eyes and nodded. "Aw, come here babe." I said, pulling him closer to my chest.

Yuma hadn't had a panic attack in about five years now. Maybe even longer than that. But when I heard his breathing picking up, I knew he was having one right now.

"Yuma, just calm down. Nothing is going to separate us. We're safe now." I said to him.

"My chest hurts." Yuma said, breathing heavily.

"Yuma, take deep breaths. You're okay, I promise." I said.

"W-What about Zueki?" He asked.

"Well, we know that Astral has connections to her. She's not gone forever." I said, unsure about her as well.

Would Zueki really come back to us? Or would she stay a spirit forever?

Both Yuma and I grew tired and closed our eyes, falling asleep as the sun lowered below the trees.

Zueki's POV

All I saw was darkness. This must've been what Astral was talking about when he said he didn't know how long I'd be out for.

I felt the pain of the wound come back, but less than before.

I suddenly felt very lightheaded and realized that I wasn't breathing! I immediately took a deep breath, but upon doing so, I began coughing. I quickly sat up and opened my eyes, seeing blood fall from my mouth.
