"A Single Click"

You have always been great at capturing the essence of someone in a photograph.

A single click of a device that's been advanced over the past few centuries can capture a simple moment.

A single click can alter one's perception of the world.

You wrote to me a while ago that you were proud of the 'woman' I had become.

You wrote to me that you believed in me.

You wrote to me.

A single click.

You have never been good with words.

They always sounded cold, like a fork hitting the kitchen tiles in an echoing manner.

You enjoyed speaking,

and putting on a one-man puppet show while wrapping us around your finger.

You enjoyed yourself.

A single click.

You shot an image of us on a family vacation back in 2016.

I was twelve at the time.

With a single click, you put a halt to that beautiful moment.

With a single click, you caught us in our happiness.

A single click.

You captured your son.

When all he had known all his life came crumbling down like the wiener schnitzels we used to order, you suspended him in time.

And a single click on a screen spread the worldwide message.

You were leaving.

A single click.

Now you send me pictures.

You remind me of our vacations.

You remind me of the long hikes, the food we ordered, the first time we drank beer together, and hell, you even dare to remind me of how we were a family.

You scratch her face out of the images you took.

You think she is not important.

A single click, goddamnit!

A single click.

You told me we would go back in time.

We would revisit our special places.

You said we would distill new moments,

You said we would take pictures.

Your single click has made me hate photography.

Your single click ruined it all.

Your single click makes me love you.

Your single click.

Your single click.
