"What will it take for you to let us go?" Tommy asked Punz who held him from behind by the hands.

Punz let out a humourless laugh, "What could you possibly offer?" he asked.

Tommy went silent, not really thinking he'd get that far. He thought he'd get side eye-d at most.

Punz scoffed, "Thought so," he said.

They continued on their way to the courthouse, the rest of Tommy's friends held by the Reapers—all their crystal balls confiscated, meaning there was no way fro them to talk to the people from the Human Realm which means no outside sources when they're literally going to court with no clue as to how they were going to counter the claims.

In short, they're fucked.

"Shouldn't we be going in the waiting room or somethin'?" Technoblade asked.

"Oh, don't worry about that," Punz turned to face the pink haired male, a smirk on his face, "Your friends saved your spot."

The next thing they knew, they were thrown in the courtroom with Dream, Sapnap, Karl, Puffy and Sam already seated.

"Ahh, welcome back," the Middle figure stated, his voice deep and echoing through the room joyously.

Tommy glared at the figure. "Come along, take a seat," the figure by the middle figure's left hurried them.

The Middle figure laughed as they eyed Tommy sit down, "I see the spiritual world is getting to you. It would have been an easier process in the Isolation Room you know."

"Fuck off," Tommy glared.

"Shall we get started?" One of the council members asked.

"Yes," the Middle figure said. "We are here to discuss Mr. Innit's—now very complicated—case. If the defendants lose, Mr. Innit will be sent in the Isolation Room. The ghosts involved will be banished to the Human Realm with no way of replenishing their energies."

"To start off, it is clear to everyone here that Tommy here broke a rule, which is helping a ghost," the Middle figure said. "He had that trial already, and managed to escape the consequences. Everyone here helped hide him and are classified as treacherous."

"What the hell?" Wilbur said. "No one would have needed to hide him if what you guys are doing isn't illegal also."

"How come?" The Middle person asked.

"You are literally gonna make him a Lost Soul," Techoblade said. "That's essentially killing a child."

"We wouldn't have to if he didn't break the rules."

"What rules? The ones humans don't know about?" Karl asked.

"He read a book with the rules on them."

"People put random shit on things, who's to know those rules were real anyway?" Dream said.

They spent minutes, arguing with points that Tommy has heard and pointed out on his earlier trial. Unfortunately, it seems as though the council has everything planned out.

Everytime they find a loophole, the council denies it, stating a rule that they have—which even Puffy was confused with.

"You guys are manipulating the situation with your shitty contradicting principles," Phil said." You say you want to help Death with their job but what you're doing is ruining things 'cause from what I've read, Death's job is to guide dead people so they can pass on, not randomly transform people into a mindless soul wandering for a whole eternity."

Phil statement made Tommy perk up. The coucil stayed silent for a moment.

"Things are getting quite...loud isn't it?" One of the council member asked. "Why don't we take a quick break to cool off?"

The group was about to protest when they were held by Reapers by their arms and was lead into an empty room.

"What are we gonna do? We're losing," Wilbur stated.

Sapnap shook his head, "Thay have the upper hand. They know all the rules and we don't."

"I think Phil's on to something though," Karl pointed out.

Phil nodded at the brunet. "Are you guys sure they're actual rules though?" Phil asked the group.

"Yeah, the council says so. What are you getting at?" Sam asked.

"While we were in Karl's huge library, I read something," Phil said. "In that book it is stated that Death is the oly one who can make rules when it comes to passing on. How can we be sure that the council didn't just make that up?"

Puffy hummed, "I can confirm that one of the books says that as most of them were mine. I just assumed that maybe Death gave the council free reign?"

"What if they're lying?" Karl asked. "I doubt that they're above that."

"Yeah, they'd definately benefit from that," Dream said.

"Oh," Wilbur said suddenly. "'Cause they have this whole "make Death's job easier thing right?"

Techno nodded in understanding, "And there's the "cheatin' Death" thing. Death hates that—so I've heard—I doubt Death'll do it."

"So what you're saying is that Death is on our side?" Tommy asked.

"Possibly," Phil answered, "though this is all from speculation."

"Besides," Techno started. "Even if Death is on our side, how are you gonna summon them?"

"We can always call for Death?" Puffy suggested.

The others gave her a look, asking her to continue.

"I've been dead dor hundreds and thousands of years. I've seen many trials," Puffy explained. "If a case is too difficult—the council can't decide if the dead person is qualified for a chance at being a ghost—Death is called."

"From what I can see and hear, Death seems to be fair," Puffy said. "But have doubts since Death is mostly a silhouette and voice for those who are just watching a trial. I could be wrong."

They looked at each other, silently communicating.

"We'll take that chance," Phil said.

Soon enough, they were called back into the room. The council seemed much more composed than when they left for the break.

"Shall we continue?" The Middle figure asked. "So far all the points you have made was either invalid or has violated a rule."

"Rules that you made up?" Puffy asked. "I know Ghosting 101, I have never heard such bullshit in my life."

"Then that must be why you're dead," the Middle figure said. "Rest assured all the rules we have stated have been in place for a long time."

"Oh yeah?" Phil challenged. "So you wouldn't mind us checking facts would you?"

"What?"

"All I'm saying is, let's see what Death has to say," Phil said.

The room started to glow—forcing everyone to close their eyes or look away—the room shaking as it did so.

When the glowing seized, everyone saw a figure wearing a violet robe with the hood cover the person's face, only the ends of their shoulder length brown hair peaking out of the hood.

The person looked up and they were met with Death.

Tommy couldn't help himself, "DEATH'S A WOMAN?!"
