"Hold up, say that again," Dream said as he hovered on top of the couch.
"Ummm," George raised a hand, "Does anyone want anything to drink?"
Everyone looked at George with mixed expressions. "What?" he asked."I'll take coffee!" Fundy said.
"Fundy, mom and dad don't allow you coffee," Niki scolded.
George looked at them and shrugged his shoulders, "I'll just get everyone water," he said before heading to the kitchen.
"So, uhh, yeah," Tubbo re-started their conversation. "We need your help getting someone back from the Ghost Realm."
Dream hummed, "That Tommy kid, right? How in the world did he even get there?"
"Apparently these guys have been breaking the second rule of the court," Eret said."Well, they don't seem like ones to try to bring back the dead," Dream commented.
Wilbur huffed, "Even if they tried to bring someone back, I bet it's gonna take them so long," he joked, which earned himself a nudge from Phil.
"I have the water," George said, cutting off their conversation as he handed everyone a glass. "Continue," he said as he sat down besides Drista.
Tubbo nodded at him, "So, will you help us?" he asked Dream.
Dream hummed, "Depends on what you need me to do," he said.
"Locating him first is a good idea, I think," Ranboo said.
Eret nodded at this, "I don't really know any cases that a human has been brought over there, so we have to make sure he's alright first."
"Alright," Dream said, "I have to go back and recharge anyway."
"Oh right," Techno said, "That's a thing."
"We probably should head back to the house after this," Phil said.
"Alright, so I have crystal balls that we can communicate with," Eret pulled out two crystal balls from his satchel, one being significantly smaller than the other. "You can wear this around your neck so you won't have to carry it around with you. We have to make the link first though, do you know how it goes?"
Dream shook his head, "I'm not one that studies how psychics do stuff."
"That's fine," Eret said, "I'll do it." They held out a hand that was holding the smaller crystal ball. Dream placed his hand on top, and Eret began the process of transferring Dream and his own energy into the crystal ball. While they were doing that, another conversation was happening between the people who were watching. "So," Wilbur started, "How did Dream even get bound here and not his own house?"
"Well," Drista started, "Dream isn't one to be attached easily, but he's been around this dork" she pointed a thumb to George, "and said, you know what? Yeah, this one's cool. So he probably got bound to this house 'cause he's here a lot and this is where George lives.""Yeah, imagine my surprise when he suddenly pops into my kitchen one day as ghost," George said. "It was horrifying though," he sighed. "Last I talked to him, he said he was living for a hiking trip with this childhood friend of his. I think his name was Pandas? Sapnap? I dunno, he switches between the two when he talks about him."
"How long has he been..." Phil trailed off.
"'couple of years now, maybe 3 years?" George answered.
"Oh," Techno said suddenly when he realized something.
"What is it?" Niki asked.
"I watched a trial once, just a few months after our death," Techno said, "I knew that green hoodie looked familiar."
"Wait, what's a trial?" Drista asked.
"Basically you tell the court at the Ghost Realm what happened to you and they'll get to decide whether or not you're going back as a ghost," Phil explained.
"I remembered that he came to court with another guy wearing a white bandana, seemed like they knew each other," Technoblade said.
"How'd their trial go?" Fundy asked."From what I remember, he said something about a hiking accident," Techno said.
"Well that checks out," Drista crossed her arms.
"What he proposed as unfinished back then was wanting to spend more time with his sister," Techno said.
"Oh," Drista said in surprise, "I—wow, I did not know that."
"Yeah, so that happened, and he got the Middle man's approval," Techno said."Wait, what's a middle man?" George asked.
"Oh! I know this one," Wilbur said. "It's the guy who get's to make the final call on the trial's outcome."
"Alright, then why is he called a Middle man? Shouldn't he be like the Judge or something?" Drista asked.
Wilbur shrugged, "They probably didn't think much about it and in the end was not very creative."
"Fair enough," Drista and George said.
"Should I continue or...?" Techno asked.
"Yeah, yeah, go ahead."
"So yeah, that happened and he was classified as an Unwilling," Techno said.
"Unwillings are ghosts that don't exactly want revenge or has regrets—well at least to the court they don't—and get sent back anyway," Niki explained.
"And we're done," Eret announced.
Dream wore the crystal ball necklace around his neck,"So what does Tommy look like again?" he asked. "I saw him like once, you can't expect me to remember."
"He's tall," Phil started
"Has blue eyes and fluffy blond hair," Tubbo said.
"Was wearing a red and white shirt," Ranboo added.
"High pitch laugh," Techno said.
"He acts like a mix of a gremlin and a raccoon," Wilbur said. "You'll know when you see him."
Dream let out a chuckle, "Hope so, the Ghost Realm is huge," he said. "I'll see you guys later, I guess." Dream concentrated, and with a pop, he was gone.
When Dream opened his eyes, he was at the Gate Room. He walked away from his portal which was located at a higher up level than most. When he finally reached ground level, he went to the Gate Keeper station to greet the Gate Keeper that he had managed to make friends with over all the times that he had passed by.
"Huh," Dream said when he sees the station empty. "That's odd, he doesn't usually leave his post. Then again, it's noon time in the Human Realm, not a lot of ghosts come through at this time." He then grabbed the pen on the desk. When the Gate Keeper was gone, ghosts were obliged to write their names in the log book. Dream has no idea why the council needs to keep track of them, they were dead, what were they gonna do? But then again, the council was odd.
After writing his name, he headed out of the Gate Room. He stared at what was before him. A place filled with gray and white buildings, and ghosts that wore colorful colored clothes. "Great," he sighed. "All I have to do is find a human kid with blond hair, wearing a red and white shirt," Dream let out a sarcastic laugh, rolling his eyes as he began walking.
"Yeah...Nothing too hard."
