Chapter 45: A Bright Future

After they had raided the yakuza hideout, all the heros who were critically injured was hospitalized.

While at the hospital, the three boys learned that Chisaki had shot Mirio with a bullet that completely erased his quirk. They were then called into Nighteye's room for bad news. The doctor's said that even with all the doctors and surgeons they have, they could not save him.

Mirio came running in with tears in his eyes. Nurses were running after him to take him back to his room so he could rest.

"SIR!!"

He ran to Nighteye's side and started pleading to him. "Please live Sir! You can't die, you still have so much to teach me!!".  "Mirio, you have suffered so much because of me. If only I had-" Nighteye coughed out but Mirio interrupted him. "It was. It was because you taught me how to be strong!" Mirio said through tears. "Mirio, at first I lured you I'm to be a vessel for One For All. But the you followed me and believed in me. Then before I knew it, you became my pride. Mirio, you'll be-" Nighteye began. He then lifted his hand and touched Mirio's face. He activated his quirk to see into Mirio's future. "fine, you'll become a finer hero than anyone else. This is the only future that shouldn't be changed. So smile".

"A world without cheer and humor...will not have...a bright future" Nighteye said with his last breath. The monitor than flatlined. Everyone sat there in silence as they watched the doctor's cover his body. Asta, Midoriya, and Yuno went to comfort the broken Mirio. They all then walked out of the room and took Mirio back to his room.

Asta and Midoriya then remembered that they needed to check up on Eri. "You two go, I'll keep an eye on Mirio" Yuno said looking at Mirio through the window. "Thanks Yuno" Asta said patting his brother on the back. "No problem".

Asta and Midoriya rushed to Eri's room to check up on her. When they got there, she was just sitting on her bed playing with the fragment of Asta's blade. They looked towards the doctors to see if they could go in and the doctor nodded.

"Hey Eri" Asta quietly said. She looked up and saw the two heros who helped save her. "Hi mr heros" Eri whispered. They went to sit down next to her but she flinched in fear. "It's okay Eri, we won't hurt you" Midoriya said to her. She nodded and slowly inched her way closer to the boys. "Uh...what are your names?" She asked them. "I'm Asta and that is Midoriya or Deku" Asta introduced them. "W-Where's Lemillion?" She asked. "He...he is getting better. He got very hurt" Midoriya said.

"He-He got hurt because of me" Eri whispered. "No no no Eri, Lemillion didn't get hurt because of you. He got hurt because he wanted to save you. Him getting hurt was his decision, you did nothing wrong" Asta said patting her head. She looked back up and nodded at Asta. Asta looked down to her hands and saw she was still messing with the chipped piece of the sword. "Your still holding onto that?" Asta asked her. "Mhm, you-you said that it would make sure I didn't hurt anyone" Eri said. "And have you hurt anyone?" Asta asked. Eri shook her head.

Aizawa and doctors came in to do tests on Eri about her quirk. "Hello boys" Asta said to his son and student. "Hey Dad/Aizawa Sensei" Asta and Midoriya waved. "Hi Eri" Aizawa said holding his hand out. Eri got scared and hid behind Asta and Midoriya. "It's okay Eri. He is my dad, he won't hurt you" Asta smiled at her. She then came out from behind their back and shook Aizawa's hand.

"Uh sir, we need to run some test on her" one of the doctors said. Aizawa gave the two boys a knowing look and then said "yeah but give us a second" to the doctors.

"Eri, are you okay if the doctors help you for a little bit?" Midoriya asked Eri. "Will they hurt me?" Eri asked them. "No they won't hurt you, I'll tell them to be very careful" Asta smiled. "O-Ok then". "Ok, we will be back right after you are done" Asta and Midoriya said waving goodbye. "Bye Asta and Deku" Eri waved.

The boys left and Aizawa pulled them to the side. "This coming week will be Nighteye's funeral. I know you two want to and so would Mirio so I asked the doctors if Eri could go and they said she could after they do some more tests" Aizawa explained. "Thank you Aizawa Sensei" Midoriya bowed. "Get up kid" Aizawa said patting Midoriya's shoulders.

After that conversation, Asta and Midoriya went back to Eri's room and stayed with her until they had to leave.

"Bye Eri, tomorrow we will come and give you clothes to wear" Asta said patting her head. "Bye big brother Asta and Deku" Eri slightly smiled. Her smile filled Asta and Midoriya with joy.

Asta and Midoriya got back to the dorms and walked in to see everyone sitting outside. "You guys are back!!" Kaminari shouted and suprised everyone. Asta and Midoriya were then smothered by ther classmates asking them questions about where they were.

Asta was then pulled by the ear and dragged by none other then his girlfriend Noelle. "Ow ow ow let go" Asta said in pain. "Where have you been and why haven't you called me?" Noelle pouted and let go of his ear. "I was at the hospital taking care of Eri. And my phone died" Asta said rubbing his ear. She then embraced him into a big hug. "Well I'm glad that you're okay" Noelle said wrapping herself around Asta. "And hey I have some things to ask you" Asta said. "What?". "Do you have any clothes that you had when you were little?" Asta asked. "I think I might back at mg family's house" Noelle replied. "Well I kind of told Eri that I would get her clothes and I was just going to use yours" Asta said. "Well that's fine, she can have some of mine" Noelle stated. "Also, do you want to meet her tomorrow?". "Yeah sure but let's go to sleep, it's been a long few days" Noelle said dragging Asta to her room. The couple laid down and then fell asleep together.

*the next morning*

Asta and Noelle took a quick trip to Noelle's family house to pick out some clothes for Eri. They then went to the hospital to give Eri her clothes and stay with her for the day.

When they arrived, Eri was very happy to see Asta but got confused on who the lady with blue hair was. "This is Noelle, she is my girlfriend" Asta introduced Noelle who was waving at Eri. Eri waved back and pointed to the bag. "What's that?" She asked. "This is your clothes Eri" Noelle said sitting next to Eri and opening the bag. She started showing Eri the dresses and clothes that they had brought for her.

Asta just sat there and smiled as he saw the two girls he loved play with eachother.

'Sir Nighteye was right, from now on will be a bright future'
