Part 12 : It's for the best

2 days after the engagement party-

Nat was worried, Remus left on a misión without her. She was waiting for him,he was due to arrive today.she hears the front door open. Why didn't he wait for her? Ever since the engagement party he has been more distant than ever he was avoiding her and even stopped staying in her room. She was in the kitchens making herself lunch when bill walks in
Bill: hello there little love
He knew she was with Remus . He couldn't help it though. The little mischievous side of him liked to push Remus buttons. Remus arrived from his mission,the pack he was trying to persuade to join their side did not agree and told him to leave. Upon arriving he heard Bill talking, he went to the kitchen, Nat and Bill were in deep conversation. Bill was standing a little too close, he didn't like it. Nat didn't notice Remus, her back was towards the entrance and Bill was leaning on a counter.
Nat: So how are the wedding preparations going?
Bill: Fluer is still calm about it. I think she is going to ask you to be one of her bridesmaids.
Nat: really aww I can't wait! you both are perfect for each other
Bill: Where is Remus anyway ?
Nat: ohh he is doing a job for the order ( looks down at her hands )
Bill: weren't you supposed to go? He left without you
Nat: I don't want to talk about it
Bill pulled her up for a hug and told her if she ever needed a friend he was here.
Remus saw the exchange and made himself notice, nat saw Remus and went up to hug him, Remus stopped her and told her they needed to talk. They walked up to her room. The couple left Bill in the kitchen.
Bill: Well it seems I will see myself out.
Nats room:
Nat: you're here oh I missed you I was so worried about you .
Remus: I am fine I could tell how worried you were in the kitchen
Nat: What's that supposed to mean?!
Remus: You know exactly what I mean, why did you let him hug you!
Nat: he is my friend Remus and he hugged me because he noticed I was upset that is all
Remus: And I am supposed to believe that( thoughts: it is now or never) I have been thinking about the bond and all that entails. I am sorry Nat I can't give you what you want.
Nat:(Nonono)what?! Remus
Remus: it is just that..
Nat: So I was just some... somebody to keep you entertained! We share a bond, Remus!
Remus: You actually thought I loved you.look at you, you're a child pretending to know what love is. I sweet talk to you and like a kid drinks it all up. I don't want a bond with you nor kids.
Nat: you, you lied to me! ( she stays back and wraps her arms around herself)
Remus: yes I lied. I mean look at you, you still hope that I change my mind. Still believe I am good, you were just a past time to me.
Next thing you hear is the echo of the slap Nat gave Remus.
Nat: I guess I never really knew you. ( in a cold distant voice) I want you to never in your life speak to me. If you see me walking towards the direction you are going you turn around the other way at meetings we only engage if necessary if not don't look at me at all. From now on it's like I don't exist to you Remus Lupin. Now leave my room! Get out !
Remus leaves. ( back in Nat's room) Nat gives out a yell.in her feat of anger nat throws everything from her vanity to the floor, books are thrown anywhere.
Nat: how could I be so stupid. All this time I thought he wanted me and accepted the bond all this time. I was just a body to keep him warm.
Remus was walking down the hall when someone crashed on him, it was Tonks.
Tonks watch out, Remus. ( noticed he was crying) are you ok?
Remus: I I broke up with Nat
Tonks at the revelation hugs him and walks with Remus towards his room.
Tonks: want to talk about it?
Remus: we can talk in my room come on
Nat was on her bed clutching a pillow when she heard the exchange between Remus and Tonks.
Tonks: Come on, I will help you feel better.
Nat: So that's it. I am not staying here.(bought a flat close to headquarters when she was commuting from school)
Sirius was out in disguise shopping, he arrived at Grimmauld and heard Tonks and Remus. Wtf just happened, I leave for an hour and all hell breaks loose. Sirius walks up to Nats room and sees she is packing
Meanwhile in Remus room-
Tonks: I can help you forget Remus.
She starts to kiss him.
Remus: Tonks I don't want to get your hopes up
Tonks: I won't trust me, just this once let me help you.
Remus undresses Tonks
Back to Nat-
Sirius: What happened here? And why are you packing?
Nat: Remus (was all she said)
Suddenly Nat falls to her knees in pain
Sirius: woah there love are you ok
Nat : whispers no he is with her I can feel it
Sirius: Who is with her, what are you talking about?.
Nat: Remus and Tonks I need to go, I can't be here
Sirius : Remus and Tonks? ( he remembers what he heard on his way up here)
Nat: uncle snuffles it hurts it hurts so much, she says and makes herself in a small ball hugging her knees.
Sirius: where were you going I will apparate us there
Nat: my flat
Sirius: right come on
He carries her and disapparate to her house. Sirius can feel her shaking.
Remus room-
Remus and Tonks were a tangle of limbs
Tonks: that was wow
Remus: you should go it won't happen again
Tonks: Remus
Remus: leave!( what had he done)
Nats apt-
Sirius: now explain what happened
Nat starts explaining what happened at the end Sirius is unexpectedly calm
Sirius:I am going to kill him! I warned him to not hurt you and That is the first thing he does.why were you hurting ?
Nat: the bond we share but my veela side felt it more I will be ok
Sirius: but he never bit you
Nat: the moment we were intimate half of the bond was cemented. My veela is weak and my wolf is hiding in my mind they are both hurt not just with what he said but what he did with Tonks was the final blow go home uncle snuffles and please don't hurt him
Sirius: I can't do that but I will try good night love. I will come see you tomorrow.
Sirius left back to grimmauld. When he arrived he saw Remus with a bottle of firewhiskey halfway empty
Sirius: are you happy now she is gone
Remus: she left? I didn't mean to hurt her she wanted a husband, kids the house with a picket fence
Sirius: Was that so bad? she wanted that with you. You need to stop pushing people away. Moony I am angry I want to plummet your face but she asked me not to hurt you even after what you did she still wants to keep you in one piece. Remus Remus are you listening?
Moony: I locked the human up for a bit. How is she padfoot.
Sirius: moony?
Moony: yes? How is my mate padfoot?
Sirius: not so great she felt when Remus slept with Tonks, she was in pain.
Moony: Fuck stupid human I warned him and he decided to throw me deep behind his mind i couldnt stop him. He will pay for this. You might not be able to hurt him but I can make his transformations painful. It looks like he forgot that it was her that helped us understand each other.
Sirius: I will keep an eye on her moony.
Moony: thank you my friend
