Part 21: Love & loss

Everyone was at the burrow waiting for Nat and Remus, they had an appt at st. Mungos for an ultrasound. they are to discover the gender of the baby. Fred and George had gone all out. The burrow was decorated in blue and pink. It looked beautiful and they invited everyone that they knew and trusted.
Fred and George were impatient; they couldn't wait to know if they had a goddaughter or godson. They knew it was different, the baby was to have 2 godfather's instead of one, but Nat was different and liked to change tradition in a good way.
St. Mungos

Artemis Black hello I am Dr. McDonough I am to be your OB-GYN and how are you feeling today and Dad how are you feeling? We are all fine, thank you, replies Remus. Ok so I know that at the beginning it was only the midwife checking on the baby but now that you are more far along I am to start taking over I have here that both parents have lycanthropy Ms.Black is only half but you Mr. Lupin are a full werewolf do not worry we have had some cases similar to yours and the baby has come out healthy so let's go ahead and take a look if any of you have any questions let me know.
With that they checked on the baby. Well everything looks good. Would you like to know the gender? Both Nat and Remus nodded yes. Well it is a boy congratulations to both of you now for the lycanthrope gene it is there but it seems to be dormant. I have never seen anything like this uhm well if it is dormant try to keep an eye on him as he gets older. It's the only way to know if the gene will stay dormant or activate. Any questions? Both parents shake their heads no. No we don't maybe next time thank you, said Nat. Remus was surprised at the information. Remus are you alright? asks Nat.
Remus: I am surprised and relieved he won't have my aflicción.
Nat: That doesn't mean it will stay like that.
Remus: What do you know?
Nat: there are cases, Remus just because they don't have them here doesn't mean there aren't.
Remus: Do you know of any of them? Look Nat I am a full werewolf and i don't want that for him it is painful,besides what would you know you are only a Demi-wolf .
Nat looks at him hurt, if you hate what you are so much why are you even here?! Because last time I checked your wolf is the reason me and the baby survived. It is also the reason we found our way towards each other. If you will not accept who you are Remus how can I be sure you will accept him fully. Will you teach him to hate the wolf? Will you not be there if he ever transforms.
Remus: I just don't want him to suffer the way I do.
Nat: he won't because we will both be there to love and guide him to be one with the wolf. You can't stop what he is, Remus if he is meant to be a wolf or a Demi-wolf or just a normal wizard then that is what he will be.
Remus: It is all my fault if I had just kept my distance from you.
Nat: Remus, please don't whatever it is that 's going through your head stop it!
Remus:I can't do this! How will I look at him? He will blame me for his pain.
Nat: Are you forgetting about me?
Remus: you don't know anything! I better go, it is better to leave now. Don't look for me goodbye Nat.
Nat: Remus — Remus! Wait you can't please no don't leave again( she hold his hand)
Remus: I have to, it's for the best.
Nat: If you leave, don't ever look for me. If you leave I won't forgive you ever I am done with your shit. I can't keep doing this! As for the baby if you ever decide you want to meet him let Sirius know.
Remus: I'm sorry
Nat: Yes, I am too. You were right. I believe everything you said. How pathetic can I be( chuckles) goodbye Remus.
Remus leaves quickly to Grimmauld place. He packs what little he owns and leaves.
Nat wipes away the tears. She can do this, it will be hard but not impossible.
Fuck, how am I going to explain him being gone. She thought as she flooed to the Burrow

Where are they?  wondered the twins they were about to go pull a prank on Ron when Nat arrived.
Fred: so what is the

Fred/George:wait don't tell us yet let's go outside(once outside)
Fred/George:  everyone they are here !!
Sirius: they are going to be a bad influence on the baby little one.
Nat: maybe but he will be loved
Fred/George: We are ready!
Nat: It's a boy!
Molly: I have a grandson!
Nat: yes Mum you do
Both women start to cry and all boys try to stay away from both women.
Harry: Where is Remus?
Sirius: Good question, let's ask Nat.
Both men started to walk towards her, She knew what was coming no one had asked yet.
Sirius: Snow, where is Remus?
Harry: He is supposed to be here, did he forget something?
Nat doesn't look at them; she knows that once she does look up the tears she has been holding will fall.
Sirius: (Can smell the tears) He didn't! Fucking shit. Why?
Nat: the doctor said the baby has the gene. It is dormant but wants me to keep an eye on him as he gets older. Remus didn't take it well and-and( she starts to fully cry) he blames himself and somewhat me for the Lycan gene.
Harry : That's it I am gonna hurt him.
Sirius: Harry!
Nat: there is no use, he is probably gone. I will be ok. I told him that if he ever wants to meet his son to talk to you uncle Padfoot. I no longer want scraps of love or for him to run away every time something with werewolves, bonds, or kids come up. I... we deserve better, he is my one. ( she gives them a watery smile) I can't keep doing this with him.
Sirius: We are here,love. You are not alone.
Nat: Thank you. Now change those faces. It is a baby party.

Remus apparaited from place to place until he felt there was enough distance between him and Nat.
Nat was finally home, it felt lonely. For the first time in her life she didn't know what to do. She let herself cry for everyone she lost and for the love that left her.
A week has gone by and no one has heard from Nat. Molly went to Grimmauld, she asked Sirius about Nat and told her everything. Molly was at a loss for words.
Molly: We should go check on her. It has been a week Sirius. We didn't think much of it when we didn't see him, we just thought he was having a hard time with the wolf.

Sirius: Alright, let's go.
They flooed to her flat. Once inside they noticed everything was a mess, clothes were thrown and pictures too.
Sirius: Nat?!
Nat: go away I'm wallowing in self pity at the moment!.
Molly: Sweetie, We know you are hurting. We just want to make sure you're ok.
Nat: Mum?( she cries full on) Mummy I want my Mum! And— and Daddy.

Sirius: ( let's the tears fall- how can he be so stupid and leave her alone. His niece, his brother's little girl needs him) it's ok love,come here. (He walks and sits on the bed and cradles her) I am here I'm sorry I left I shouldn't have.
Molly: Ohh love, cry let it all out.
They stayed with Natalia until she fell asleep.
Sirius: I don't want to see him, if I see him this soon I will seriously hurt him.
Molly started to clean and noticed the clothes were men's clothes. That's Remus' clothes, said Sirius. I will take it. They kept on cleaning until it was spotless again. After that day they kept on checking her more often.
2 months later-
Nat has had enough time to wallow. It was time to get her shit together. She showered,changed and left to Diagon Alley. Everyone was rebuilding. WWW was open and booming like always. She walked for a bit longer and left back home. Nat went to every Doctor appt she was happy that her little wolf was growing healthy.

Time passed and Nat was coping as best as she could. She would spend time with everyone.  She was due any day now, there was no sign of Remus. Deep down Nat had hope that he would return.
The day her water broke was not a good day. She was eating with Kingsley in muggle London.
Nat: uhm Kingsley
Kingsley: yeah
Nat: I think my water just broke.
Kingsley: What! We need to go now. He paid for their food and left quickly.
Nat was laughing at how panicked he was.
Kingsley: don't laugh, little dove, come on we still have to get the bag.
Nat: ok wait( she gripped his had as a  hard contraction passed)
Kingsley: breathe.
Nat: ok let's go I am starting to get the feeling of pushing.
They grabbed the emergency bag and went to St. Mungos. They quickly checked her in and started to ready her for delivery.
Dad we need you next to mom, said the nurse as she got Nat hooked up to the monitors.
Kingsley was about to reply when Nat looked at him, pleading him to stay. He agreed. Kingsley was amazed at how women were able to give life. It was hard and painful, women are admirable.
After a lot of pushing and yelling of how much it hurt Nat gave birth to her beautiful son. She named him Benjamin Wulfric Black.
Kingsley was excited the baby was beautiful.

Nat: thank you for being here... for staying with me.
Kingsley: It's ok little dove. I will notify everyone else,   see you in a bit.
Kingsley stayed with her after everyone had come to visit. Sirius didn't say anything regarding Kingsley. He knew he still loved Nat. Molly was overjoyed she was hogging the baby then the twins claimed The Godfather card yes everything was fine still one person was missing.
Remus was in Germany with a pack of wolves gaining knowledge. He then left for Costa Rica where a werewolf pack resided. As he got to know about the pack and how some were different. The alpha was talking about his condition. Turns out his case was just like his and Nat. The alpha finishes saying he does have a wolf but can control and shift at will, that his parents made the change easy when the gene awoke. Hence the reason he has no pain, his pack and mate are sacred.
Alpha Gino: I can see that you never trusted your wolf Remus. Who is your mate? I know many packs. I might know her.
Remus: Artemis Black
Alpha Gino: ah yes Tasha. Great woman if she is your mate did she not explain to you about wolves and packs.
Remus: she did, I just...
Alpha Gino: Look, a mate is like a wife but what you share with her runs deeper than a human marriage , she won't know this because I never got the chance to do it. She had to leave for school. Unless she learn it herself. Knowing her she probably researched.The only difference is that a mate is sacred. She is your other half of your missing soul. She won't ever love no one else but her mate. Look,If rejected she will slowly wither away. If there are children involved she will hold on to that love but will remain lonely unless she decides to marry. The wizarding marriage can help her, it kind of links them, but it can be dissolved. She will live a happy life. She can love her husband but it will not be the same as she was with her mate. Why hurt both of you? No one is going to love her like you. You know not many of us have that chance to meet our mates, just love and protect her, they are our human side. Go home Remus.
Remus didn't go home. He kept on traveling, gaining more knowledge.
