I was in a dilemma. Dilemma of either continuing in the school or join a junior college. My school did provide Humanities, but there weren't much students who opt for it. It's the most under-rated stream of our school.
Teachers' suggested, 'not to go to a junior college', because of the perception, that students get spoiled over there. But, I believe, that it's completely up to the child, in what sort of company he/she falls in, and how dedicated he/she is dedicated to his/her studies. If someone is well-focused, he/she can prosper in any school, any field and any friends-circle.
True, that if the friends we make aren't up to the mark, it'll ruin our lives. Be it school, college, office or anywhere, if we have a good friend-circle, we are bound to prosper in our respective fields. They are really helpful. Whenever, we need them, just give them a call, and they will provide a solution, however far they are or however busy they are.
That is what we are experiencing now, 'The most ideal friend-circle, in the reality.' We are savouring each and every moment, as if it's our last day together.
True, we didn't have much time left for us to be together. We did not even know, whether we are going to meet again or not. It's only possible, if we all go in the same college or meet in the Annual Alumini Meet.
Amidst all these, took various changes. Priya went to her home. Rohit and Viraj also left. The only one there with me was Sid. Even Anushka went. My birthday was two days away, when I started receiving threats, 'Give me chocolates or else I'll sue you' 'You are going to get birthday bombs' and many more.
At midnight, my friends woke me up. They had made a beautiful cake, which was, after a while, applied on my face. It was the tastiest cake I had eaten. I issued chocolates from the school and went for distributing in the morning.
I crossed Annandi. She looked at me and came closer. She stretched her arm towards me and said "Happy Birthday Dhruv." I put my hand forward, shook hands and Said, "Thank you Annandi." She said, "I am sorry for whatever I have done to you. I shouldn't have been so rude to you." I told her 'It was fine.' She then continued, "I shouldn't have lied to you. I do remember my phone no. I also shouldn't have blocked you on Insta."
I was stunned. Why is she telling me this? I was going to shout out loud, in bewilderment, but I controlled. I told her, "If you truly regret it, then unblock me from Insta." She smiled. I really was elated and excited. She said, "Bye Dhruv, I have to go. I have my exam." I wished her, "All the best Annandi. Hope you do well." She smiled and walked into the examination hall. I turned away and walked. This was turning out to be the most dramatic birthday of my life. It was truly memorable for me.
Walking back into the class, I thought, "How beautiful Annandi was looking that time...!" Her gleaming eyes, her beautiful smile, her glossy lips, everything looked a zillion times more beautiful than anyone on the earth.
Annandi had her last exam. I knew, that there were high possibilities of her leaving school. I was still struggling to get her number. There was a very minute chance of me staying in contact, with her. The more far, I was going from her, the more I was loving her.
The cullimination of her exams, was he alarm for me. Alarm to start preparing harder for my boards. Alarm, to see Annandi, possibly for the last time. Alarm to savour the last moments of friendship with Anushka, Priya, Rohit, Viraj, Siddharth and Alishka. Alishka was the daughter of a teacher in our school. Soon the phrase "How's the Josh?", with a thundering reply "High as hell.", was trending in our school. We geared up for 'Boards 2K19'...
Our first paper, was on 2nd of March. We had a prayer in school, for the smooth-sailing of Board Exams. This year, the paper was going to be easier, but the invigilators were going to be strict. We boarded the bus. In the name of Alma Matter- we started our journey.
Our destination was to sort of humble dwellings. A 'local govt. school' type of feeling was running in our nerves. I wished Umar, Viraj, Rohit, Priya, Anushka, Alishka and Suraj 'a hearty all the best'. We all needed it. We went inside discussing topics.
The classes, reminded me of a typical, old, covered, village school. Small desks, two fans, teacher's table, walls with black dust, and all this amalgamated gave me the feeling of a '70's school. To add my too ill-fortune, I was on the first bench, right under the invigilator's nose.
The invigilator reminded me of a compound of 'Mogambo' and 'Gabbar' type villain. His ferocious eyes, which was even more horrific, with his moustache, scared me out of my wits.
I had everything, which a student does not desire, particularly in his/her very first board exam. I was lucky, it was a computer paper. Had it been Maths or Science, I would have succumbed to heart-failure, on the spot.
Still, I had studied enough to take me par a good score. We had three sets. Set-1 was the most difficult and Set-3 was the easiest. I received my nightmare at 10 in the morning... I had got the Set-1 paper of Mathematics. 50% of the paper was Greek to me. The rest 50% was like Odia, to an Indori...
Still, I managed to write, whatever I understood. The best part was, I wrote all the formulas on the question paper. So, in case of a mind-fade, just refer the question paper, and the problem is half solved. There is never an issue of time in a board exam. It's just an excuse because, we aren't able to recall things in a stipulated time, and then we cramp about it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
