Chapter One: Epilogue

My name is Aurora Eloise Montgomery but I have a secret last name that nobody knows. Wildly enough though the secret is even bigger than that.

For as long as I can remember, my mother spoke of a country that I was destined to rule as my father was the King of Para. I was his one and only heir otherwise the throne would go to another family from Para.

Sadly, my father passed away a couple of months ago. The last time I saw him was when I was 8 years old and visiting him at Para. He gave me a choice to move with him but I didn't want to leave my mom alone so I went back to the States and have been there ever since.

The story with my parents is pretty sad. They met in college and dated for a couple of years until my father had to claim the throne. But right before he did, my mom found out she was pregnant, with me. His mother, who is my grandmother, gave him a choice to either abdicate the throne and raise me with my mother or leave my mother and I so he could become King. Both the King and Queen must come from royalty-this had led to many arranged marriages over the years.

He chose his kingdom over my mother and me which I understand why he did. I just always thought I would see him again and now I never will. The times I did share with him will always be with me though.

My mother gave me a wonderful life and did have support from my father. I am currently in my last semester of college with just under two months left. It's bittersweet for me to graduate.

With my father's passing, it is only time before I am called to come forth and accept the throne. I've done my research of my country and learned its history from when it first began. There is a lot of good and a lot of bad.

Today, I am driving four hours to my mother's for Spring Break. I decided to visit with her instead of staying with my boyfriend and his friends. I have always been close with my mom and I want to spend as much time with her while I still can.

She won't be able to come live with. That's okay, though because there comes a time when every child should grow up and start a new path to their life. I'd have my grandmother and other royal members help me along the way.

I called my mother as I neared her apartment. "Hey, I'm almost there!"

"Awesome! Dinner is about ready, too. You can drop your stuff off before we eat, okay?"

"Alright! See you in a minute!" I did as she instructed, unloading my things in my old room before joining her at the table to eat dinner. "How are you doing mother?"

"I'm better now that you're here. Are you excited about graduating soon?"

"Yeah, I am excited. It's been an intense four years." I am a double major at my university which comes with at least double if not triple the workload. Political Science and Literature are the majors that I will graduate in soon. "I brought schoolwork with me that way I can stay ahead."
