Almost forgot to upload the chapter tonight. I can't keep track of my days anymore! I love the system that I've made and the days I've chosen to upload. I hope your week is going amazing and if not I recommend watching Frozen 2 or any Disney movie to brighten up your spirits! Enjoy chapter 5!-expressionwriter
Charles was sitting outside my room when I was finally done with the tasks that my grandmother had prepared for me. Today was a long day and I didn't feel like talking or apologizing for my rudeness towards him. He didn't give me much of a choice as he blocked the only entrance to my room.
"Charles I am not in the mood. Please." I begged him to let me through.
"Talk to me first. Is there anything I can do?"
"Not right now there isn't. Ask me tomorrow?"
"Okay, I will. Sleep well, Aurora." He kissed my forehead this time and opened the door for me. I went straight to bed but sleep wasn't easy. I tossed and turned most of the night. Coffee was going to be a must in the morning.
For breakfast, I pretty much had a lot of coffee and a couple of scones. Grandmother of course took notice of how much coffee I was consuming and commented.
"Have enough coffee, darling?"
"Not yet. Sorry, grandmother. I didn't sleep well last night."
"Is everything okay?" I put on my best fake smile.
"Yes, everything is fine. Might be feeling a little homesick, I guess."
"Call your mother today. I'm sure she would love to hear from you." There was a slight pause in the conversation until she spoke again. "May I ask a question?" I gestured for her to continue. "Do you enjoy having breakfast together? I never asked if you even eat breakfast and here I am making you spend part of your morning with me."
"Oh, grandmother I love having breakfast with you. It's nice not eating alone and we are able to spend more time together. Breakfast is my favorite. I love it so much sometimes I eat it for dinner."
There it is. Something I enjoy. Spending time with my grandmother. For most of my life, she was never around and didn't show much care about me. For the longest time, I thought she hated the fact that I was born. Whatever feelings she had then don't matter.
She has welcomed me into her home and kingdom and wants me to take over for her. That is a great honor to bestow on someone. Even though I was next in line she could've found someone else, someone who belongs here.
I love her so much though. She isn't a mysterious person but real and right in front of me. She cares about me. I know it must have been hard to watch her son die and every day I see her with a brave face on. That's more than me. My grandmother is the strongest person I know, besides my mom of course.
To be honest, I was a little shocked that Charles didn't join us for breakfast. I talked to Joe and he led me to where he and the rest of the princes are staying which is another castle next to us. Must be used for important guests like them.
The princes were well spread out and had their own space. I bet they liked that. But I found where Charles was staying and knocked on his door. Not a moment later he opened it still in his pajamas.
"You were not who I was expecting," Charles stated while laughing. "Sorry for my appearance. I just got out of bed. Is everything okay?"
"Yeah. I was just actually checking on you. This is a little embarrassing now so I think I'll go."
"Hey, wait. Come inside. I'll go change." I nodded and followed him into his room placing myself in a chair next to a fireplace that wasn't lit. The weather gets hot here so the need for heat is not necessary. "Good morning, Aurora. Sorry again for how I looked."
