"They are going through the unimaginable"

2 WEEKS LATER

Bella was finally discharged from the hospital, her eyes dead and puffy as she was wheeled out of the hospital. The doctors had kept her there for so long to monitor her, making sure that they didn't have any other internal damage or bleeding problems.

Spencer refused to leave Bella's side, staying at the hospital day and night. The extra chair in the hospital room became his bed. He dragged it next to Bella's bedside each night, holding onto her hand as she quietly slept, her face peaceful.

Spencer liked when she slept. It meant that she wasn't in pain anymore.

Derek ended up taking Bella and Spencer home, making sure they got there safe and with no worries. He helped Spencer get Bella inside, getting her comfortable upstairs in bed. Spencer wrapped her in warm blankets, planting a soft kiss on her forehead.

Both Bella and Spencer had been put into counseling, meeting with a therapist every Monday and Friday. There they would discuss their progress and mental health. The first meeting was the hardest for Bella, she didn't want to relive her trauma over again.

Sometimes Bella found herself touching her stomach on accident. Each time she would flinch away, reminded that there was a sore scar there now. She began to avoid mirrors, not wanting to see herself anymore. She had lost weight, her face looking sunk in and hollow. The bags underneath her eyes were getting more and more prominent by the day. She hated sleeping, she always dreamt about getting shot.

Spencer had begun accidentally falling asleep on the couch downstairs or in the library, Emma clutched to his chest and cracked open halfway. He found himself rereading it every single night, wanting to find absolutely anything that would be able to comfort him.

On a cold night, Bella managed to pull herself out of bed to go and try to find Spencer. She wandered the house, pulling her robe around her tighter and tighter. She checked the living room and library, unable to find her grieving husband.

She passed by the nursery, typically a room that she would ignore. But instead, she peered inside and turned on the light. There sat Spencer, curled up in the rocking chair, fast asleep and face red from crying. He held onto a blanket that Bella had knitted for the baby, the name Gideon knitted into the side. Rigby sat in his lap, snuggled up and purring.

Slowly, Bella turned the light back off and closed the door, making her way back to their bedroom. She didn't want to disturb Spencer.

She could hear his heart crying from a mile away.

Aurora lightly knocked on the front door of Bella and Spencer's house. She waited for a couple seconds before knocking again. There was still no response, not even the sound of someone coming to the door to check who it was. It was pure silence.
