"And the only gifts from my Lord were a birth and a divorce"

The smell of fresh air burned Bella's nostrils as she sat at a picnic table with Hyacinth and Gianna, watching Buddy play with his toy cars in the grass next to them. Bella grinned and rested her chin on the palm of her hand.

"Who needs men anyway?" Hyacinth said, taking a sip of her lemonade. "They're gross and smelly."

Gianna sighed, "I just never thought that he would actually...cheat on me."

   "Men are pigs, Gi."

"God, divorce is more expensive than I thought it was going to be," Gianna frowned, burying her face in her hands. "Maybe I should just...maybe I should try to make this relationship work."

Bella looked over at her upset friend, "Gi, trust me when I tell you this. I once dated a guy that ran on me all the time, they NEVER change. He's just going to keep doing it and you'll be raising Buddy in a house that teaches him that cheating is ok. Your husband is not a good guy, Gianna. You can do so much better."

Gianna began to sniffle, "I thought Marcus and I were a good couple, I really did. Then I look on his phone only to see that he's been sending nudes to some college girl. I--I still can't believe it."

"It's going to get better, Gianna," Hyacinth said, wrapping her friend in a side hug.

Bella offered her friend a smile, trying to reassure her that everything was going to be ok. Everything was going to work out the way it was supposed to.

"I just feel alone," Gianna frowned.

"You're never alone," Bella said, reaching over and grabbing Gianna's hand before giving it a squeeze. "Hyacinth and I are always going to be here for you and Buddy, I promise. We aren't going anywhere, Gi. We're your best friends."

"And if you want me to go kick Marcus' ass, I'll do it," Hyacinth nodded.

   Bella gasped, "Count me in."

Gianna laughed, happiness finally spreading across her face once again. She looked down at Buddy, admiring her joyful and oblivious son. Being a child was something to envy, you never have anything to worry about.

"I plan on moving to Boston," Gianna said. "Alex Bay is nice, it's home, but I need to get away. I need to start somewhere new."

"You'll love Boston," Hyacinth said. "I'll be visiting you even more often now."

Bella grinned, "Life may be hard right now, but it's going to get better. It's always going to get better, I promise you."

The three friends smiled at each other, reveling in the fact that they always were going to be there for each other.
