Your quiet sniffles add to the crackling of the fire as you wipe your rosy cheeks, only for another pool of tears to slip free and wet them again.

Huffing, you scrunch up the tissue and toss it onto the desk, staring out of the frozen window with blurry eyes. Despite their whispering, you still fail to notice the three vampires huddled by the door.

"Maybe we should do something." Daniela frowns.

"Yeah, she's crying." Bela states with a roll of her golden eyes. "You're the one with the crush. Go comfort her."

"What?" Cassandra perks up. "Comfort her? How?"

"I don't know. Hug her."

"Hug?" She glances between her sisters. "What's that?"

"Oh dear," Daniela sighs.

"What if we catch a human for her to kill?"

"Bela, that only makes us feel better." Cassandra grumbles.

"Oh, right."

"What if we gave her food?" Daniela brightens at the idea.

"We have no food. Our food is humans, remember?" Bela deadpans and she leans against the wall again.

"My," their mother partly gasps. "Out of the way girls. [Y/n], my dear, what has gotten you so upset?" The sisters bump shoulders as they peer into the room, watching Alcina take a seat beside you as you begin to explain.

Bela blinks in disbelief. "Did she just..."

"Oh," their mother gazes sympathetically, "I'm sorry to hear that. Come here." She opens her arms and you accept the hug. Daniela scoffs and glances at Cassandra.

"See? It was that easy."

She looks up with round eyes, mouth hung open. Her sisters shake their heads and fold their arms at the same time, leaving the dumbfounded vampire to gaze at them.
