A P R I L

...The Next Day ...

Suzume yawned as her 5:15am alarm blared in her room. She switched it off before changing into her jogging gear and making her way out of the house. She wanted to get a nice run in to wake herself up for the day, but also to calm her nerves.

After her 'full effort' run, she made her way home to shower and get ready for school. She tied her dark brown hair into a relaxed high pony and slipped into her school uniform.

"I'm ready." She whispered as she smiled in the mirror.

After a brisk 20-minute walk, she finally arrived at the well-known high school where she would be spending the next two years and couldn't help the smile that tugged at her lips.

She made her way into the building, ignoring the stares and gossip that was going on around her. It was the first day, but people had certainly recognised that she was brand-spanking new to the Hyogo school.

"Who's that?"

"I've never seen her before?"

"She's so pretty!"

"She better not steal the Miya boys."

"The Miya twins are so hot!"

She hadn't listened to the words going on around her as there was only one thing on her mind. Volleyball.

After getting her schedule, she looked at the top of the paper to see the words class 2-2 scribbled in pen. It seemed she was going to be in one class and then she was switched to another. 'weird' she thought.

She wasn't the brightest of students, in fact her grades were rather terrible. However, she was sharp on the court, almost a genius when it came to making decisions on plays, but in the class, she had the attention span of a goldfish.

Since the day she fell in love with the sport, she began training relentlessly, especially with her elder brother. This caused her to neglect schoolwork, which eventually resulted in poor grades. She didn't care thought because all that mattered was playing volleyball until her heart was content.

She got into class before the bell rung and decided to take a window seat near the back. She loved looking out the window when she got bored. She looked over the P.E field that was in range, before her eyes began searching for the gym where she would be spending most of her time.

Meanwhile, the Miya twins were walking with Suna, catching up and talking about their volleyball season ahead until the dark haired boy remembered his encounter yesterday.

"Did you know there's a new girl starting today?" Suna asked, his normal bored expression present on his face. However his friends noticed the very slight excitement in his voice, which peaked their interest as their middle blocker friend was barely ever interested in anything.

"No. How'd ya find that out?" Atsumu asked looking at Suna who just shrugged casually, too lazy to explain.

"Ya always have tea Suna." Osamu said as he sighed after hearing the bell ring.

"Well, see you guys at lunch."

Atsumu made his way to his class alone, slightly jealous that Osamu and Suna got to stay together, but at the same time his ego pushed his smug expression that he had made in into class 2 while they were in class 1. 'I'm smarter than ya, 'Samu' he would tell himself. Afterall, those two would compete over everything and anything.

When he entered his class, the first thing his honey brown eyes landed on was the dark-haired girl sitting by the window. Her long hair was tied neatly in a ponytail and her toned, silky-smooth legs were crossed as she stared out the window in wonder. The boy gulped as he felt a shiver run down his spine and his heart skipped a beat.
