A P R I L

Every day that Atsumu woke up during the holidays, he had this pit in his stomach.

The holidays were something Atsumu usually looked forward to but right now, he couldn't think of anything worse.

Over the period back at school after nationals, Suzume had actively avoided Atsumu. In class. She would always be sure to sit as far from him as possible which was easy due to the girls who crowded him, and during lunches she would practice alone, with Suzuya or Suna or find a quiet place to eat lunch by herself.

The blonde thought the best chance would be walking home with her. He figured it would be hard to avoid him when their trainings finished at similar times, but she somehow always managed to dodge him, and he hated it.

So, by the time the holidays rolled around, he hadn't even had a chance to talk to her, and that gave him the sinking feeling in his stomach that had yet to go away.

He felt empty without her.

She had become a part of his everyday life, even if it was just a moment of seeing her. Now suddenly, she wasn't there.

He knew the olive-eyed girl would be spending her break back home in Miyagi which was far away from him. He had contemplated going several times just to see her, but he knew it was a bad idea.

He tried getting out and doing things, he even tried hanging out with Osamu and Suzuya since they felt sorry for him, but all it did was remind him of the fact that he didn't have Suzume like that anymore.

Even in volleyball he was distracted because it reminded him of her.

Everything reminded him of her.

He tried to act happy, but it was obvious to everyone how dejected he felt. But there was one thing that lifted his mood, and that was the fact that he would see her at school soon.

Atsumu was both excited and nervous as he walked beside his twin brother to school. They were now third years, their final year of high school.

'I just need to see her.' He thought but the closer he got, the more nervous he became, and the more troubled thoughts flooded his mind.

'What if she never forgives me?' He worried.

'How am I supposed to act like everything's okay when it's not?'

'How can I function without her?'

So many thoughts were racing through the blonde's head, and he started to feel his hands sweat. It suddenly became hard to breathe.

"Oi 'Tsumu? Ya okay?" His grey haired twin asked.

"I'm fine." He said harshly and his brother recognised what was happening.

After all, it wasn't the first time.

Osamu quickly pushed the blonde into the bathroom, and he stumbled, resting his hands on the wall to steady himself.

"Just breathe." he said.

"I- I am breathin'!"

Normally Osamu would bicker with his brother, he knew he had a tendency to be over dramatic but after the last time this happened, he knew he wasn't making it up. In fact, it had scared the grey haired boy half to death.

Osamu stood there as comfort to the panicked blonde until he finally managed to calm down.

"You really need to talk to her." Osamu lectured his now calmer brother who didn't look like he was ready to face the day.
