Draco's POV

After Harry had finally figured out the egg, we spent the next couple of days searching for a spell he can use for the second task.

"I don't reckon it can be done. There's nothing. Nothing. Closest was that thing to dry up puddles and ponds, that Drought Charm, but that was nowhere near powerful enough to drain the lake." Ron said as we sat in the library the night before the second task.

"There must be something. They'd never set a task that was undoable." I said, flipping through a charms book.

"They have. Harry, just go down to the lake tomorrow, right, stick your head in, yell at the merpeople to give back whatever they've nicked, and see if they chuck it out. Best you can do, mate." Ron said,

"No, Ron. That's horrible advice."

"Do you have any better ideas?" Ron asked,

"Yes, keep looking!"

"There's a way of doing it! There must be!" Hermione cried, sounding almost desperate.

"I know what I should have done. I should've learned to be an Animagus like Sirius." Harry muttered, face down in his book.

"Yeah, you could've turned into a goldfish any time you wanted!"

"Or a frog," I answered,

"It takes years to become an Animagus, and then you have to register yourself and everything. Professor McGonagall told us, remember... you've got to register yourself with the Improper Use of Magic Office ... what animal you become, and your markings, so you can't abuse it..."

"Hermione I was joking," Harry said, sounding exhausted.

"I know I haven't got a chance of turning into a frog by tomorrow morning..."

"Oh, this is no use. Who on earth wants to make their nose hair grow into ringlets?" Hermione cried.

"I wouldn't mind. Be a talking point, wouldn't it?" Fred asked, walking up to us with George.

"What are you two doing here?" Ron asked,

"Looking for you. McGonagall wants Hermione and Ron to meet her in her office." George explained.

"Why?" Hermione asked,

"Dunno ... she was looking a bit grim, though," Said Fred.

"We're supposed to take you down to her office," George explained.

"We'll meet you two back in the common room. Bring as many of these books as you can, okay?" Harry and I nodded,

"Right," Harry said, sounding uneasy.

"We got this Harry," I said, trying to sound confident. Harry forced a smile and nodded.

---

Harry and I ended up getting shooed out by the librarian. We both grabbed handfuls of books, so large we struggled to walk them down.

By ten to midnight, I could sense Harry was feeling useless.

"Harry, we'll figure something out, don't give up," I said, trying to stifle a yawn.

"Draco you go to sleep, I'll keep working on this." I shook my head.

"No way. I can still be of some use." I said,

"I'm going to sneak off into the library with my cloak. Both of us are not going to fit, so you go to sleep." He said,

"Are you sure?" I asked. He nodded.
