Draco's POV-
"We'll go down after Quidditch," Harry said after Hermione complained about not being able to talk to Hagrid since he was so angry with us.
"But trials might take all morning, the number of people who have applied. I dunno why the team's this popular all of a sudden." Hermione scoffed, rolling her eyes.
"Oh, come on, Harry. It's not Quidditch that's popular, it's you! You've never been more interesting, and frankly, you've never been more fanciable." Ron started gagging on a large piece of kipper. I smacked him on the back, chuckling.
"Everyone knows you've been telling the truth now, don't they? The whole Wizarding world has had to admit that you were right about Voldemort being back and that you really have fought him twice in the last two years and escaped both times. And now they're calling you 'the Chosen One' — well, come on, can't you see why people are fascinated by you? And you've been through all that persecution from the Ministry when they were trying to make out you were unstable and a liar. You can still see the marks on the back of your hand where that evil woman made you write with your own blood, but you stuck to your story anyway..."
"You can still see where those brains got hold of me in the Ministry. Look," said Ron, shaking back his sleeves.
"And it doesn't hurt that you've grown about a foot over the summer either," Hermione said, ignoring Ron.
"I'm tall!" Ron said. I rolled my eyes at him, chuckling.
"Oh, Harry, how horrible it is to be you," I said sarcastically. Hermione turned to me, her eyebrows raised almost all the way up to her hair ling.
"You shouldn't be one to talk! I've had several girls come up to me in the bathroom asking about you."
"What? No! Don't want to." I said, quickly, glancing at the Slytherin table, but Theodora wasn't there.
"I know! So I said why don't you just ask him yourself?" I scowled at her. As the mail came and Harry switched his brand new book with the old one he got from Slughorn.
As we walked down to the stadium, we noticed Parvati and Lavender. Parvati nudged Lavender, and Lavender smiled at Ron. He blinked back at her before smiling. His walk turned more into a strut. Harry and I made eye contact before looking away, trying not to laugh.
---
After quidditch tryouts were finished, Cormac stormed up to Harry. So close Harry had to take a step back.
"His sister didn't really try. She gave him an easy save."
"Rubbish! That was the one he almost missed!" McLaggen took a step closer to Harry, but this time Harry didn't step back.
"Give me another go."
"No. You've had your go. You saved four. Ron saved five. Ron's Keeper, he won it fair and square. Get out of my way." Harry spat. I grinned as Harry turned around to us.
"Well done. You flew really well-"
"You did brilliantly, Ron!" Hermione squealed, which made Ron straighten up as he smiled at her, and started explaining every save he made to us as we walked to Hagrid's hut.
---
After getting Hagrid to forgive us, we walked into the Great hall, where Slughorn stopped us.
"I was hoping to catch you before dinner! What do you say to a spot for supper tonight in my rooms instead? We're having a little party, just a few rising stars. I've got McLaggen coming and Zabini, the charming Melinda Bobbin — I don't know whether you know her? Her family owns a large chain of apothecaries — and, of course, I hope very much that Miss Granger and Mr. Malfoy will favor me by coming too." Slughorn made a small bow at us, completely ignoring Ron.
