"I don't ever want to see him again," Nick groaned, turning on his car. I opened the back door to let Kyle in.

"I understand," I sighed, climbing in the front seat.

"He scared the kids. He scared my sister. He scared you!" He yelled, hitting the steering wheel.

"Even Kamski."

"I wouldn't go that far," Nick laughed.

"You can joke after that?"

"Coping mechanisms. Coping..." Nick frowned. "The point is, I'll gladly see you, but if you ever drag that husband of yours over to my house...I'll kill him."

"I won't, Nick."

"He went too far. I don't know what his problem was either. It's all that never fails his mission bullshit. He's too devoted to his own ideals. When he wants to know something, he has to, and he doesn't care who he hurts in the process."

"That isn't true, Nick," I shook my head. "Connor cares, and I trust him. Whatever it was, it must've been serious. I've never seen him so worked up."

"Worked up? He wasn't upset. That was an interrogation tactic. He was just trying to catch them in every lie, and they're allowed to lie. They're just trying to protect the androids, and maybe he needs to recognize that."

I understand what Nick is trying to say but he's giving Connor much more credit than he deserves. He could never push himself to that point of clear anger just for the sake of an interrogation.

"Connor had to think that the information they were hiding was more dangerous than whatever he could've done in that moment, and maybe he was wrong for that...but he cared."

"Maybe you need to check his deviancy or something," Nick told me. He finally began driving me towards Jericho, but the car ride was dripping with uncomfortable silence.

"Speaking of androids, what in the hell was Kamski talking about with that comment? 'You married one?' What the fuck is that supposed to mean?"

"Do you want the android answer or the Charlotte answer?" I offered.

"Both," Nick shrugged.

"My comment analysis can say with 99% certainty that Kamski was implying that by marrying you, Gavin had inadvertently allowed himself to marry an android since we are so close," I responded.

"Did...did you do that voice on purpose?"

"What voice?" I asked.

"Just sounded so...old Charlotte...so robot," He answered.

"Well...it was the android answer," I shrugged.

"Oh shit, I thought we were starting with the other one."

"No, obviously. My answer is that Kamski is an asshole and was being a vindictive little shit," I nodded.

"I can agree with that at least," Nick sighed. "So you have no idea what freaked Connor out?"

"No...if I did, I would tell you," I responded.

"You don't have the fancy little stress analysis he does?" Nick asked.

"I don't...I mean, sort of. Mine is similar but it couldn't be used as a lie detector. Connor's measures stress, mine measures emotions. So I can tell when someone is stressed."

"What the fuck does that mean exactly?"

"Connor can give a precise expectation of how stressed someone is. I can pick up on the level of what emotion they're experiencing. Was Kamski stressed? Yes. But only Connor can see that distinct spike in stress to tell whether he was lying."
