Greektown, Detroit. Over time it had became less of a cultural powerhouse, or even much of an entertainment neighborhood. In the past 20 years, it had became an extension of the red light district. It attracted clubs and club goers alike.
It wouldn't had been very difficult for Kam to find a victim here. Everyone is his type. Young, lower-class, and quiet. It's not that people wouldn't notice if they went gone, but certainly officers would care less. Nick sometimes feels comforted that his precinct is relatively diverse, because he can ensure that cases get the attention they deserve regardless of their status. He can't do that for precincts that he's not a part of him, and sometimes I think it breaks him.
"He likely canvassed the area for his victim," I sighed. "It would be useless to ask club owners if they'd seen him. All of them could've potentially seen him."
"This also would've been so long ago," Nick shrugged.
"I don't see how we possibly trace Kam's steps like this."
"Then we need to see if we can find the victim. Search cases here. Men between the ages of 18-35, suspected android crime, unsolved, bodily markings found or known of," Nick answered.

2 cases found...
1 was of a 19 year old guy, the other of a 34 year old. Neither of them gay, and they were suspected purposeful disappearances. They're not even cold yet...too soon to be Kam.
"Nothing like that. Nothing that would matter," I answered.
"Change the search. Mark it solved."
"You think they took the wrong guy?" I asked.
"It's possible..." Nick shrugged. He looked confused. He must be pulling at straws at this point, and I don't blame him. We're so close and yet so far away.

"8 years ago a 25 year old gay male by the name of Theo Rosenfeld was found murdered...hit over the head by a brick...behind Kaela's Korner. It used to be where that bar is now," I said pointing. "Officers determined it was committed by his best friend and club owner Kaela Pohlman. She maintains her innocence despite overwhelming evidence."
"What was the evidence?" Nick looked, suddenly interested.
"Her finger prints were found on his body, and on the brick nearby. Her DNA was also found on his...well...his penis."
"And what was her story?"
I searched through the cases evidence...scanning for her confession or any officer notes.
"According to Detective Nunes, she claimed that earlier that night Theo revealed he was bisexual, and had a crush on her. Kaela revealed that she also had a crush on him. They left out into the back alleyway around 11:45 am, and she began to perform oral sex on him. She had her hand sitting on the the brick which the killer would use. Suddenly, the back door slammed open and out walked a furious looking man. He started screaming at Theo about betraying him, and Kaela tried to crawl and sneak away. The killer struck her over the head with the brick, and she passed out. When she woke up, Theo had his head bashed in."
"How did they not realize she wasn't lying?" Nick jumped up.
"She reportedly had a bruise on her head, but it wasn't brick shaped. She also described the killer in vague terms, and started claiming he was an android,"
"That killer was Kam," Nick said, shaking his head.
"What?" I asked. "You can't be sure at all," I answered.
"It's intuition," Nick explained.
"It's desperation. We can't make an arrest without the body, or a victim," I said.
"You can't seriously think that she did it."
"Well, I certainly don't know. All I have is a virtual case file."
"We need to go the evidence locker for that case. I'm sure Kaela is still appealing her conviction."
"It's due for Federal courts this week," I answered. "The physical evidence is still available. She's lucky enough to have a good lawyer."
"Then let's get a move on to the locker," Nick shrugged. "I'm sure Theo had a phone we can look through or something."
I nodded. Desperation is a powerful drug.
