"I can't believe you're making me do this," Charlotte said, walking into the shelter. I sighed. I know she'll come around eventually, but for now...she is getting on my nerves just a little bit.

"We had a deal," I answered. Charlotte sat down at one of the chairs and crossed her arms. I took a seat next to her and grabbed her hand. She rolled her eyes.

"I'm trying. I swear," she said.

"Yeah...I don't believe you," I chuckled.

"Are you two the Andersons?" A very sudden employee said.

"Yep," I said, jumping up. Charlotte stood up very slowly, and I could tell she was nervous. Her eyes read anger, but her body read shyness.

"Well...let's go look at some dogs to adopt!" The employee gleefully announced. We followed her into a small hallway filled with barking dogs. Now, this...this is my home. Tiny puppies, and huge senior dogs. Everywhere! Charlotte turned around and laughed at me.

"You're practically vibrating!" She laughed.

"I can't help it! Look at where we are!" I announced. I pet a small dog through her crate and a big one through his. This is wonderful.

"So, what kind were you looking for?" The employee asked.

"Small, well-behaved, and quiet," Charlotte said before I could even begin to answer. "We live in an apartment so we really can't have anything big."

"You can still have something big in the city. You just have to take them for lots of walks!" The employee answered.

"Exactly!" I called. I looked at all of the dogs.

"Well...I think we're both at work too much," Charlotte answered, giving me the stare of death. I think that's my cue to shut up. I did say she could pick the dog after all. The employee led us down the hallway a little bit.

"This is Morgan," She said, pointing us to a very tiny dog. "She yips quite a bit, but she's very small and well behaved. She's a year old."

Morgan had to be a Pomeranian mix and was extremely jumpy. Sure enough, she was yipping, and quite loudly. Charlotte made a face.

"She's cute...but loud," She sighed.

"I understand. I think we have a couple coming in later who wants to adopt her anyway," The employee shrugged. The employee led us down another hallway and began to point to another dog.

"This is Elliot. He's..." She trailed off. Charlotte had gotten distracted and walked entirely past the crate.

"Sorry," I apologized for Charlotte.

I followed her. "Hey! Charlotte! We're back here!" I called. She was knelt down in front of a crate and was petting a dog. I couldn't see the crate, but it was gigantic.

"Who's this?" She asked turning to me. As I approached the crate, I saw a big Siberian husky with big blue eyes.

"That's Blueberry. 7 years old. She's big, rowdy, and loud. And clumsy. But...she's got a personality, doesn't she?" The employee asked.

"I love her," Charlotte said.

Of course, Charlotte would fall in love with the dog that she said she didn't want. That's so Charlotte. I sighed and knelt down to Blueberry. She did have a personality sure enough. She flopped on her stomach and looked up to the two of us, before immediately flipping back over excitedly.

"So, would you like to adopt Blueberry?" The employee verified.

"Yes," Charlotte answered before I could say anything. I chuckled. The employee unlocked the crate, and we watched how excited Blueberry got.

"Aw. There's no way that she's 7. She's basically a little puppy," Charlotte called. She held Blueberry as soon as the crate opened, and held her close.

Charlotte hasn't even had the dog for a minute, and I already know that she loves her.
