"Oh good. I totally forgot you would need the car. I'm so sorry," Connor sighed entering the apartment.

"Oh it's no problem," I shrugged. Blueberry and Kyle both ran over and greeted Connor.

"How was the ride over? No weird taxis, yeah?" Connor asked.

I'm not opening that can of worms. "Perfectly fine," I smiled.

"Great to hear," Connor smiled back.

"How was the case?" I asked.

"Open and shut," Connor shrugged. "Lovers spat."

"It ended in murder. Isn't that bit more than a spat?"

"You make an excellent point," Connor smirked.

"I like to think," I sighed. I can't lie. The whole situation with Ethan was sending shivers down my spine. Connor must've noticed because he came over and immediately cuddled me.

"Did you have a rough day?" He asked, his breath hot on my neck.

"You could say that," I answered.

"I can tell," he said, his hand finding my waist. He fiddled with my hair, dragging his fingers through it. His other hand gently rubbed my waist. "I love you."

I jumped up and looked at him. He stared back at me, confused.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"Uh...nothing," I shook my head. "I love you too."

"Really? That seems like something," Connor answered.

"It really isn't I just...I think the whole case is messing with my head," I sighed.

"Maybe you need a break."

"I can't take a break," I answered. Connor still looked confused. He cocked his head.

"You're not upset with me, are you?" He asked, looking a bit nervous.

"Of course not," I shook my head.

"Then...come back," Connor whispered, tapping the place where I was laying before.

"I...I think I'm going to head off to bed."

"Didn't you just sleep yesterday? Your power levels are at 89%," Connor stated.

"Don't analyze me!" I yelled. I caught myself immediately. "Sorry..."

"It's okay. I just want to know what's going on with you."

"Because nothing isn't an acceptable answer?"

"Charlotte it's not about that. You're just not yourself right now."

"I am. Maybe you just don't know me," I sneered. I caught myself again. "I'm sorry...I don't know what's wrong."

"Maybe you do need some rest," Connor sighed.

"I think...I think I do. I'm going to sleep in the guest bedroom. I want to be alone," I shook my head. Connor looked disappointed, but nevertheless, let me go. I headed off to the guest bed, which Nick had left unmade.

Laying down, I let myself fall asleep, trying to just forget about today.

When I woke up, Kyle was laying on the bed next to me. I suppose Blueberry must've chosen Connor over me. I don't mind though. He's much warmer than me anyway.

I took Kyle and held him close. He gently licked my hand. There was a quiet knocking at the door.

"It's time to get up, honey," I heard Connor's voice softly through the door.

"Do I have to?" I answered back. Connor entered the room, and Kyle quickly ran out, smelling the breakfast Connor had made for the dogs. Connor shut the door behind him.

"I missed you," Connor said, climbing into the bed next to me.

"I don't want to go to work."

"Why not?"

"I...just don't," I groaned. Connor chuckled.

"I have days like that too," He whispered.

"What gets you out of bed then? I've never heard you complain."

"You get me out of bed. At least I know that when I go to work, if the day is really difficult, or if I just feel like I can barely get through it, I know that I can look across the room and see my wife. Even if you're not there, or on patrols, I know that I get to go home to you."

I couldn't very well answer with "That's not helpful. My problem is I don't want to see you at work. Looking at you will remind me of Ethan, and all of his bullshit. I don't want to deal with Ethan. I don't want any of this."

So instead I answered with. "Really? That's sweet."

"It's not. It's just true. C'mon though. Get up," He whispered. I turned to face him and touched his face softly. I leaned in and planted a passionate kiss on his lips. He moaned softly and kissed me back, his hands finding my waist. I grabbed him by his shirt and pulled him over so he was straddling me. He leaned in and kissed me more, and harder. It screamed, "I want you."

"Okay. Maybe we'll call off today," he whispered, unbuttoning his shirt and throwing it across the room.
