Ranboo woke up to his mother knocking on the door, he sat up not feeling any more rested then when he laid down about an hour ago.

He rubbed his eyes sleepily "Mom?" He yawned.

She walked over to his bedstand and flicked on the lamp "Wake up, love, King Philza's troops are going to be docking within the next thirty minutes."

Ranboo was wide awake now.

Wilbur!

He jumped out of bed "Ack, okay, uhm, I'll be out in a moment!"

She laughed softly "Take your time, it will take the soldiers a bit to get off the boat and get all their things. King Philza sent a letter, all the soldiers brought their own tents and stuff, we can have them set up camp outside of the castle, the courtyard is already packed. "

Ranboo nodded in agreement "Well we've got plenty of space from here to town. I could also recruit more people to be supervising officers." Ranboo added.

His mother nodded "Meet you in the living room, I've got breakfast baking now."

Ranboo's ears perked
Ooo, baking?

His mother left the room and Ranboo got dressed in his formal attire complete with his golden crown.

He quickly brushed his teeth and splashed his face with some cold water.

He rushed out of the room and met his mother in the kitchen.

She had two bowls on the dining room table "Would you like oatmeal?" She asked with a smile.

Ranboo nodded eagerly, oatmeal was one of his favourite things in the world, especially with how his mother made it.

She carried a pot over to the table and ladled out some of the tan oats into the bowls.

She set the pot on the counter and she handed Ranboo a spoon.

They are slowly so that they could savour the flavours.

Ranboo finished off his bowl and waited for his mother to finish too.

"Thank you, Mom!" He said graciously "Breakfast was really good."

She patted his hand "You're welcome, love."

She kissed his forehead and he smiled.

Ranboo remembered Wilbur and paused "Oh, Mom.."

"Yes, Ranboo?"

"So about the troops. Wilbur sent me a letter, he said that he was with them..."

If his mom was surprised she definitely didn't show it "Well, I suppose that is his choice then. He is of age to make the decision I guess."

Ranboo frowned "I don't like it one bit."

"Well, I don't thinks anyone does, but we've got to do, what we've got to do, you know what I mean?"

Ranboo thought for a moment "I just wish things were different."

She hugged him "We all do, trust me."

Ranboo nodded into her shoulder and he back away "All righty, let's get going."

Ranboo stood at the edge of the docking area watching as stone faced men and women filed from the boats onto land. He scanned the surrounding looking for his familiar curly-haired friend.

Ranboo looked at his mother who's emotions were invisible under her warm, welcoming, mask.

Ranboo forced a bright smile onto his face too and he waved to the tired, sick, looking soldiers who now walked past them. His mother took to announcing directions to the lead soldiers who passed on the info along.
