The party sat at their lunch table in the cafeteria. Spring break had ended about a week ago, and nobody was very happy about it, well, nobody except El.

El had finally started school and the principal had been nice enough to make sure at least one of El's friends were in her classes. She shared Chemistry and History with Max, Physics with Dustin, Geography with Will, English with Lucas and Math with Mike. They were all a big help to El, supporting her when she wouldn't understand something.

"I swear the food they serve for lunch gets worse every semester." Lucas said, using his fork to examine the 'lasagne' on his plate. "What is this shit? It's like they cut up a demogorgon and used it for the mince."

"I told you, dude." Will said. "Just pack your own lunch."

"Noted." Lucas cringed.

Their conversation was cut off by a voice over the speakers. "All sophomores. Please report to the gymnasium after lunch."

Mike groaned. "Oh god. What could that possibly be about?"

Max shrugged her shoulders. "I don't care. As long as it's not Sex Ed."

Yet, when Max saw that they were making the boys and girls sit in different sections, she dreaded her entire existence.

"This shouldn't be awkward at all." Lucas sighed.

Max just rolled her eyes, grabbing El's hand and pulling her towards the seats. Max thanked the heavens that she could still hide her bump with baggy t-shirts.

The talk started off with the basics... you know, the human anatomy of the male and female body. When the presenter asked a question, El began to raise her hand, but Max quickly pulled it back down.

"Believe me, El. This is not the time to contribute to the discussion." She whispered.

And then... the conversation moved to sex. For some stupid reason, the presenter decided to explain how it worked, as if a bunch of 16-year-old small-town teenagers wouldn't already know.

Max buried her face into El's sleeve, hiding the amount of red on her face. And El... well El looked slightly traumatised at all the detailed information she was hearing.

The boys kinda just sat there. Lucas cringed, trying his hardest to ignore the elephant in the room amongst his friends. Dustin and Mike were doing their best not to burst out laughing at their obviously uncomfortable friend. Don't get them wrong, they were beyond happy for Lucas and Max, but the whole irony surrounding this lecture was just... too good.

"So who can tell me what happens when a male and a female have sex without protection?" The presenter asked.

Despite everybody knowing the answer, there was silence.

"Come on guys! Don't be shy!" She said once again.

Still silence.

"I guess I'll just pick on somebody then." She searched the audience. "You. Red hair in the back."

Max could've sworn the universe hated her.

"What happens when a male and a female have unprotected sex?" She asked once more.

Max did her best to keep her composure. "Pregnancy." She cringed.

She didn't dare risk a glance over at the boys, because if she has, she would've seen their jaws dropped, stunned by the irony occurring.

"Yes that's right!" The presenter far-too-enthusiastically said. "And do you know any symptoms pregnant women experience?"

Boy, don't I. Max thought. "Umm. Nausea, cravings, back pain, fatigue, dizziness-" she cut herself off as to not seem too obvious.
