Now that Lucas and Max (and the party) knew the gender of the baby, they had the exciting task of revealing it to their friends and family.

Obviously, they had to to tell their family first, so they began with Mr and Mrs Sinclair. Thankfully, it was Mrs Sinclair's birthday, so Lucas and Max didn't raise much suspicion when they approached her with a card, her husband sitting by her side.

It read:
Dear Grandma,
Happiest of birthdays to you! Thank you for supporting my mommy and daddy endlessly, they really appreciate all you do.
I feel so grateful that I will be born into a family where love overflows with every hug, conversation or cooked meal. A family which you created.
I simply cannot wait to meet you.
Lots of love,
Your Granddaughter xoxo

Mrs Sinclair jumped out of her seat with excitement. "Are you serious?"

Max and Lucas nodded huge smiles on their faces.

Mr Sinclair let out a joyful chuckle as his wife wrapped their son and his girlfriend into a big hug. "Golly gosh! A little girl!" Mrs Sinclair exclaimed.

Max wiped at her slightly damp eyes. "I know! We can't believe it."

Lucas went over to his father, who wrapped him in their own hug. "Proud of you, son. You will seriously be the best girl dad."

"This little girl is going to be so blessed!" Mrs Sinclair said, pulling Max into another hug.

That seriously couldn't have gone any better.

Max anxiously dialled the number as Lucas stood by her side. The phone rang five times before anybody picked up.

"Hello? Susan Hargrove speaking."

"Mom, is Neil home?" Max whispered, worried that her stepfather would maybe overhear her through the receiver.

"No honey, he's at work. It's just me, I promise."

Max let out a sigh of relief.

Susan's voice came through the phone again. "How have you been? I miss you so much and wish I could be there."

Max sighed. Of course she also wished her mother could be here, but her mom wouldn't leave Neil. It disappointed her, but she was glad her mother respected Max's wishes and concerns about Neil. Besides, Max knew her mother still loved her very much.

"Yeah, I've been doing well, Mom. Everybody here has been so supportive of myself and Lucas. I'm really happy." Max told her.

"I'm so glad to hear that, sweetheart. You deserve it."

"Hey mom, guess what?"

"What?"

"I'm having a baby girl, you're going to have a granddaughter."

Max's mom squealed through the phone. "Oh my goodness. How precious! That's such amazing news Max. You're going to be the best mom to a little girl! I just know it!"

Max felt her eyes grow damp, feeling really touched by her mother's words. "Thank you, Mom."

"I love you, Max."

"I love you too." She sniffled. "Oh Lucas is here too, do you want to speak to him?"

"Of course!"

So Max handed the phone to her boyfriend watching as he laughed at her mother's words of excitement, thanking her for her multiple congratulations.

Max's heart was full. Although her mother and her's relationship wasn't perfect, they still loved each other endlessly, and that was more than enough for Max.
