33. To the Other Side

Words to know before reading this chapter:
           • Hallasan : Hallasan is a shield volcano on Jeju Island in South Korea; it is the highest mountain in South Korea. The area around the mountain is currently a designated national park, the Hallasan National Park.

           • Sangje : Haneullim or Haneulnim (하늘님 "Heavenly King"), also known as Sang-je. He is the Korean mythology's Jade Emperor (in Chinese culture, traditional religions and myth is one of the representations of the first God).

It was a fine morning, birds chirping, sunlight peeking through the leaves. Anhye and Suga walked through the trees. They were informed by the animals that they will meet Dojeon on their way and they were quite happy until…

Suddenly some men blocked their way.

Both Suga and Anhye didn't expect men in the middle of the large forest.

They were dacoits. And there were six of them. Suga didn't think once before using his powers. They all were thrown far away. He changed himself into his form of majestic tiger and started attacking them. But suddenly many more started to join them. You see dacoits didn't believe in Spirits or power, they didn't listen to the kings or queens. Something majestic like Suga made them think of their opportunity to hunt and earn. And so they fought. Some of them tried to capture Anhye, but Suga protected her every time. When they found that most of them were on the ground, Suga transformed back into a human. He caught Anhye's hand and both ran.

They kept running when Anhye heard some noise and turned around only to find an arrow coming towards Suga. Anhye pushed him away, yet it was too late. The arrow pierced her chest.

Suga screamed out. He ran to her and held her in his arms.

-"Get up Anhye, dear get up everything will be alright." He closed his eyes as a golden glow covered them. He used his powers to heal her but nothing worked. He looked into her eyes; eyes screaming for help, yet the most powerful creature of the Baekdudaegan Mountains couldn't do anything.

-"Guardian, P-Please save o-our child... Please Tell him about me... please protect him.."

His world stopped when he saw her closing her eyes. The hands that clutched his hanbok now fell lifeless. There was no breeze around. But slowly the eyes that held concern, love and worry now held nothing but anger and rage. A much brighter golden glow started to cover him  as his eyes turned golden. He stood up to see all the dacoits standing in front of him. The rage covered his heart and mind to an extent that he got blinded. Blinded with rage, pain and revenge.

A soft bed of flowers grew under you as they carried you to the shade of the large tree. They themselves were trying to revive you, but alas, it failed.

Suga used his powers to each one of them. He had promised himself he would never use the darkest of his powers to any buman, no matter how big their harm to nature. But he couldn't help. This power will awaken the darkest and cruelest nightmares which they can never escape. This power can damage their nerves to an extent that they will lose their sense, their humanity, make them insane, lunatic.

Screams of pain pierced through the mountains as Suga laughed to see the pain. He was so deeply indulged that he didn't realise anything around him. Suddenly Suga was thrown away. His cries of pain stopped as all the men fell unconscious. Suga came back to his senses and stood up only to see a panting Dojeon.
