The Butterflies Dissapear

| Luna |

When the others came back, Cia looked at me quizzically. I guess I still looked pretty scared. You see, the deal with me is that I have always been afraid of falling in love. Don't ask me why, I just am. I even talked to some Venus kids about it, and they said it was probably that I was afraid of people giving me more attention, or that I am afraid that people will find out my secret. Cia knew about my problem. And whenever I am around James those annoying butterflies come. I'm not admitting that I like James. But I guess I do like him a bit. A bit.

"I guess we should go and get some food," Cia said, since I was a bit scared to say anything. "I suppose that we will need to stay here the night, cause James will need his strength to take us all the way to Boston."

James had woken up now and he seemed quite hungry. I guess we all were.

"All right then," I said, "I guess I'll go. Cia you'll come with me?"

"Actually August, Tristen and I were thinking if we could sleep for a while."

"Yeah," Tristen said. He rarely says anything, so if he said that he needed a nap that I won't argue.

"OK, I guess I'll go alone."

I was just about to go when Cia suddenly said, "Luna! You can't go alone. Let James go with you, besides he's already slept."

"All right," I said in a tight voice. When James joined me, we walked quietly. We didn't say anything. But as we were coming on a road he suddenly held my hand. First I got the electric shock feeling, then I felt myself becoming breathless.

"You need to calm down," he said. His voice was so calm and gentle. Then he did something so surprising that I thought I would have dreamt it. He just lowered his head and placed a small kiss on my lips. Nothing more. It felt like there were a billion butterflies in my stomach now.

We didn't talk after that at all. When we came out of the shop I heard growling. James was ahead of me. He ran after the thing that had growled. I ran after him. I have to admit that he is really fast. When I finally caught up with him, I saw him lying on the ground with a really bad cut on his head. I tried to get the monster's attention. It was a hellhound. James must have been trying to control it since it was a monster of the Underworld.

I removed my sword charm from my bracelet and threw it in the air. I caught it as it turned into a spear. I raised it and called the lightning. I felt the surge of energy and blasted the hellhound. When the monster fell I transformed my spear into a sword and stabbed the beast. It slowly disintegrated. Once I saw that the monster was gone, I ran over to James.

I got out some nectar, and poured it into his mouth.

"Come on James, come on," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. I cleaned out his cut and put some unicorn drought on it. Then I fed him some ambrosia.

"Come on you stupid boy, wake up," I sobbed angriely.

After what felt like an eternity I heard his voice.

"Luna?"

I looked down and saw that he was awake. I was so happy I hugged him fiercely , then helped him sit up. When he sat up I sat in front of him cleaning his wounds. I loved his black eyes that looked so calm and nice. When I finished cleaning his wounds, I helped him up.

"Can you stand?" I asked him. Just as I said that he flopped on me.

"I don't think so," he said.

"Well, lean on me and we'll walk back," I said.

I wrapped his arm around me and we started walking. When we were on the borders of the woods I just stopped and turned to face James.

James started saying,"Whats wro-"

I interrupted him with a kiss. Don't ask what made me do it. Suddenly I didn't feel scared anymore, I felt happy.

He wrapped his arms around me, and I ran my hand through his silky black hair as our lips moved in sync.

When we pulled apart I looked at his eyes.

"What was that for?" he asked me, with a smile.

"Oh nothing," I said grinning, "I just felt like kissing the stupid boy who I like and who I thought was going to die."

He laughed at that and we walked back together, his arm wrapped around me. And the best thing? The butterflies had gone for good.
