I lay awake in the darkness of the dormitory, the quiet snores coming from the beds around me. I was waiting, waiting for the right time. I jumped when I heard the quiet chimes from the grandfather clock in the common room. I sighed, I sat up still wearing my uniform. Turning to the side I saw Hermione do the same.
"You ready?" she whispered to me.
"As I'll ever be." I replied, my heart already hammering in my chest. We crept out of the room, careful not the wake the others. Walking down the darkened hall we saw the boys waiting at the end. They saw us and smiled. We began down the steps and quickly entered the common room and set off across to the passageway. I froze however when I heard a strange noise. Looking to on of the chair arms I noticed Trevor the toad, sat proudly upon its arm.
"Trevor." Harry hissed at the amphibian.
"Trevor shh...you shouldn't be here." Ron whispered, his fingers to his lips. I jumped when another figure appeared out of the gloom. Neville?
"Neither should you." He stated confidently. "your sneaking out again aren't you?" he looked at our fully clothed forms and frowned.
"Now, Neville listen. We were-"
"No, I won't let you!" He cried, standing from his stair. "You'll get Griffindor in trouble again!" he looked around unsure what to do next, before taking up a fighting stance. "I-I'll fight you!" he held out his fist weakly and I could help but feel for his bravery. Hermione sighed and stepped towards him.
"Neville, I'm really really sorry about this." She said taking out her wand and pointing hit at him.
"Petrificus Tortalus." Neville froze, going a slight grey couloir before tipping backwards. I lurched forwards to catch him but was to late as he hit the floor, hard.
"You a little scary at times... You know that?" Ron gulped. "Brilliant, but scary."
"Let's go." Harry said walking past me and over Neville, "Sorry." He said before carrying on, I followed.
"Sorry, Neville." I winced stepping over his still form. Behind me the apologise from the other two watches my ears.
"Sorry." Hermione said simply.
"It's for your own good, you know." Ron reasoned, more for his benefit than our fellow Griffindor. We bunched together and Harry threw his cloak over our little group. We walked quickly, through corridors and upstairs, avoiding whoever we met. We eventually made our way to the third floor. We opened the doorand made our way in to the hallway
"Ow you stood on my foot." Hermione complained as we reached the other end.
"Sorry." Ron apologised as flames lit the darkness. Hermione sighed in frustration and produced her wand, ducking her hand out of the cloak.
"Alohomora" She said quickly pointing to the lock upong the hard wooden door. I heard the distinct click and she pulled her hand back under
"Anyone else getting the feeling we've done this before?" I asked sarcastically, "Oh wait!" Harry glared at my dark humour and reached for the handle of the door and slowly swung it open. we entered cautiously and stopped.
"Wait a minute." Ron said. "He's..." a gush of foul smelling air rushed passed us taking the cloak from our huddle. "sleeping." Ron grimaced as the warm air. Looking around I noticed a harp sat in the corner, it played beautifully and the soft notes drifted around the room gracefully.
"Snape's already been here, he's put a spell on the harp." Harry informed the others and began to approached the sleeping creature.
"Uh," Ron moaned. "It's got horrible breath." I laughed quietly.
