TW: small mention of blood, skip the parts with the ⚠️ next to it!!

Dream POV:

It's now the morning and I can't seem to keep my eyes open. George and I stayed up for hours last night playing minecraft, I got to know him a lot better. We planned to meet after school today to get food and so I can show him around the area. I hope today goes quickly.

Well, it did. It's now almost the end of the day, George agreed to meet me after practice. I have around an hour left until I get to see him. I want to use this opportunity to spend time with just him, as the others make it hard for us two to talk alone. I brought a nicer outfit to change into after practice.

I completely abandoned the practice game and got lost in my thoughts, picturing George's smile and rosy cheeks.

'DREAM' coach shouted.

I snapped out of my thoughts and saw a ball plummeting towards my face. I had no time to dodge, the ball instantly knocked me to the ground as it hit me. My eyes went dark as I gave into the overwhelming tiredness.

I woke up with heavy eyes and felt the damp grass beneath me. The whole team crowded round me, Sapnap and coach at my sides. I could faintly hear people calling my name, but I had no energy to move or reply to them.

⚠️ start of blood warning

I started to regain consciousness and gripped onto Sapnap's hand. He squeezed it and helped me to a sitting position. My head was pounding and I could feel blood trickling down from my eyebrow. I felt dizzy again, so I led back onto the now flattened grass. I once again shut my eyes and let myself sink deeper into the abyss.

———

I woke up in an unfamiliar place. Everything was so bright, it sent pains through my head and to the rest of my body. I could hear beeping surrounding me and small chatter from outside my door.

I groaned as i touched my eyebrow, noticing it had been stitched up. What the hell happened? I thought to myself.

⚠️ end of blood warning! :)

Suddenly my mum rushed through the door,

'Clay you're awake!' She gasped, bringing me into a hug 'how are you feeling sweetie?'

I winced as her voice echoed through me, 'I- I'm okay mum. What happened?' I asked while repositioning to be more comfortable in my bed.

She explained what coach had told her, how I had been an idiot and wasn't concentrating. She said it's nothing serious and that I just need to rest for a few days. I then realised..

'Mum I was supposed to be meeting George after practice! He's gonna hate me.' I said, looking around to find my phone.

'Is he short, brown hair?' She asked

'Yeah..' I wanted to add on that he's beautiful and has the cutest smile in the world but I've known him for 2 days, I can't embarrass myself like that. My mum is aware of me liking boys as well as girls since my ex was a boy. I dated him for 5 months and it ended really badly, she was there to help pick up the pieces after what happened.

'Just wait here' she said while exiting the room. As if I can go anywhere right now anyway.

George's POV:

Sapnap and I sat in the waiting room, both of us shaking our legs as we worried about Dream. Sapnap described the brutal knock out and how ill he looked after. I hope he's doing okay in there.

Dreams mum walked into the waiting room, spotting Sapnap and walking over to us.

'You must be George?' I nodded and gave her a small smile, 'Dream was worried that you would be angry at him for not meeting you. Come in and see him boys.' She softly spoke. She returned my smile, she had a kind face, one which showed forgiveness and comfort. It made me feel more at ease. We all laughed at the fact Dream was worried about cancelling our plans.

On the way to Dreams room Sapnap nudged my arm,

'So you and dream huh?' He said with a smirk. I replied by rolling my eyes and walking faster. He's such an idiot.

Sapnap and I entered Dreams room, get well soon cards cluttered the side table and sounds of beeping filled the silence. We both gave him sympathetic smiles as we held him close. I didn't wanna tell him this but he looked like he'd been dragged through a hedge backwards. He still somehow looked perfect, I wanted to stay and hug him for hours but he seemed tired and probably wanted to rest.

Sapnap and I stayed for a little bit, until visiting hours were over. He should be discharged in 2 hours. We planned to visit him at his house if he wasn't too tired.

Dreams POV:

That hospital bed was so uncomfortable. Good thing this pain medication will take away my back pain too, I'm glad I'm back in my own bed now.

My mum keeps coming in every 2 seconds to check if I'm still alive. The accident wasn't even that bad, she just worries about this sort of stuff. 2 years ago I had a serious injury from football which meant I couldn't walk for 2 months. It was torture and my mum was helping me get better, she's terrified of something like that happening again.

Although I had been asleep for ages at the hospital, I felt so tired still. Sapnap and George were meant to come round but I'll tell my mum to call it off, I need my beauty sleep anyway.
