Everest POV

~4 more months later~

"Yep Ms. Goodman there's two of them." My new OBGYN's assistant nurse stated like she was telling me something I didn't know. She stared up over her little glasses at the black and white monitor that displayed my third trimester ultrasound. Considering I had been told this three times by three different nurses during my pregnancy the shock value was played out and a healthy dose of fear had set in. When I first learned of the twins I was by myself at my first trimester ultrasound. Mr. Vag (As I had grown to refer to him) had pointed out the two bean shaped babies-to-be on the ultrasound monitor. He was delighted to give me this news and I (already emotional) sobbed like he had told me I was going to die. He comforted me of course and told me I was going to be ok. That they were healthy and all I could think was how the hell was I gonna take care of two babies in me and Shay's two bedroom one bathroom house? How would I pay for diapers or formula or colleges!! Then it hit me. How was I gonna tell my mom and dad that they were gonna be grandparents to two not one? But most of all, how was I gonna tell Shay? She was ok with one but would twins be her breaking point? In the midst of my sobbing I asked for something to eat (Pregnancy Perk no doubt) and he fetched me a club sandwich that I ate slow my tears fading. Of course had to tell Shay first and she looked at me like a had shit on my face when I finally choked it out over her homemade spaghetti. It went a little like "I'm having twins, can you pass me the pepper." I know I know I was an idiot but after the general shock she pledged herself to me like she had many times before and I was gracious. Me and Shay told our parents together at breakfast. They were, like us, shocked and worried but more than excited. Now here Shay and I were, listening to the young stripper-turned-wannabe-nurse tell me I was having twins.

"Congrats!" she said cheerfully and I smiled.

"Thank you." I said and Shay squeezed my hand and I looked at her already knowing what she wanted. "Um is there any way you could tell us the sex of the twins. Someone just couldn't wait till birth." I said smiling over at her.

"Another two months?! No way." She said just as my doctor came in.

"Hello hello. How's my patient?" He asked as he shuffled in with papers in his hand.

"Fat and tried. Lugging all this," I say rubbing my huge baby bump "Is way too much to take to school everyday." I said honestly. Waking up in the morning at 7:16 was hell. I wake up and vomit, do my hair, vomit, brush my teeth, vomit, brush my teeth again, get dressed, have breakfast, try not to vomit, and get to school fighting off every hand that dared to reach out and touch my sore stomach. It was eventful and when I got home I did homework, ate, and slept. I repeated this process everyday faithfully.

"Well honey you don't have to worry about that anymore because we are putting you on bed rest." Mr. Vag said and I frowned. Bed rest was a fate worse than death and I was about to protest when he waved a silencing hand at me.

"I don't want to hear it Everest." He said his old eyes serious. "This is the danger zone for mothers of twins. In these last few months a premature birth is more likely because of stress and increased movement or stress of the body. It's best for the babies to put you on bed rest now." He said I a pouted like a 10 year old.

"I'll make sure she stays off her feet doc." Shay said and I looked at her. Her eyes were serious and I knew that she wasn't bullshitting which let me know this new precaution would be enforced. Crap. He smiled and thanked her giving her my new meds and hands me a pink paper.

"What's this?" I asked.

"We ran a test on the twins to check for any illness and we also got both of their sexes if you both are interested." He said and I clenched the paper tight. At first I wanted to wait until they were born but now with the paper in my hands I wanted to know.
