Everest POV

~Two Days Later~

Mmm sleep is a virtue that I will always appreciate but for once sleep wasn't comfortable. My head was banging, my whole abdomen felt like it was on fire, and my right foot hurt. I groaned but didn't open my eyes and I heard shuffling. "I think she's waking up I'll get the nurse." I heard Shay say and then I heard someone say no and that she needed to stay off her foot. Funny kinda sounds like...

"Dad?" The words came out hoarse mixed with disbelief and exciment.

"Hey Princess." He said closer now and I felt his hand touch mine. I opened my eyes and winced in the bright lights. I clapsed a hand over my eyes groaning and heard a click follow. I opened one eyes sighing happily at the now dark room and peered at my dad. His beard had been painted grey and his eyes were green grey mirrors of mine. "How do you feel? Are you ok?" He asked and like clock work the nurse came in. She had hair the color of cotton candy and had to be about 28 but looked every bit of 22.

"Good Monday morning Everest, how are you feeling?" She asked, champagne bubles in her voice as she looked at my charts and monitors.

"I'm in a little pain." I murmured to her, touching my side lightly. She nodded and handed me a cup of different type of pills.

"This one will help with the swelling cause your had a slight comcusion, This pill will help with the healing process with your fractured ribs," She said pointing out each pill as she looked back at the chart and frowned. "The doctor has you on two more medications that I didn't get. I'll be back." She said and exited as Shay entered hobbling on her cruches with two cups of water.

"Shay what happened to your leg?" I asked and she smirked.

"Round 2 she caught me slipping. It's just a deep brusie and a sprane. No biggy just out of bball for a little bit. I bought you some water." She says handing me the cup. I drank it and with a knock my doctor came in rolling in a big cart that held two large monitors.

"I'm glad you are finally awake Ms. Goodman. I needed to run some test." He says and I nod.

"Will I be able to leave soon?" I asked and he nodded.

"I have to check the break on your ribs. They were kind of low and with you being pregnant it could cause a problem wi-" He went on but was stopped by Shay's sudden choking on her water and the gasp from the room door.  I looked up jumping as the door meets the frame with a loud bang and my mother's mouth hangs open as she gawk at me. A coldness set in and I stared at my doctor who looked bewildered by all the sudden shock.

"I'm not pregnant." I said to him.

"I'm sorry Ms. Goodman...I didn't know you weren't told when you woke up but you got tested for everything  including drugs and pregnancy to see what we're dealing with. You tested positive for pregnancy. 4 and a half weeks." He spoke but he sounded far away as I was catapulted back to my thoughts, back 4 weeks and I could faintly remember soft faint feather kisses on my neck and I could hear my drunken moans and cries for more like a video recording in my head and in one big wave it hit me.

I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant and now everyone I care about knows it.

Shit.

I was dragged into the present by my mom's voice. "Please tell me it isn't true....Everest please." She pleaded eyes wide like she had just seen a murder fresh off of America's Most Wanted. My eyes began to well with tears as I touched my stomach. Now that I felt it, I did seem harder and slightly inflated. By the in my mothers eyes I could tell see could see all my truths in my eyes and I watched the look of shame cross her eyes and just like that I was hyperventilating and sobbing. This break hurt my broken ribs but the pain was nothing compaired to the pain I felt in my heart. Shay's arms wrapped around me and her soothing voice was trying to end my cries. My mother who didn't like to cry in the presents of her kids left the room and I could feel the distance expand between us, every heartbreaking inch tore me to pieces and all I could see was her face.
