Everest POV
As I laid on the couch I still couldn't shake the meeting between Chrysler and I. It had been worse than I hoped. I could still see the coldness in his eyes as he pushes me away. I had thought that he'd at least want to see the girls. Even if he was pissed at me, which I rightfully deserved, he could have at least stuck it out for their sake. I believed that is what had hurt the most. Not that he had pretty much thrown our friendship away so quickly without even a second thought but that my girls would never really know him. It would be his loss in the end. Aliyah and Azariah would have Shay. They already thought she was there daddy anyway. Why change that now. I mean, I knew when they got older they would have questions but those could wait. I watched as Shay played monster with them. She would get down on all fours and rise up tall on her knees to growl. Zari my little adventure would run up to her and fall over onto her leaving shay to pretend fall over and be defeated. Once down Ali, my shy girl would run and plop on her stomach hitting her giving the final parting blow. Then it would start all over again. This never got old to them and watching them laugh and giggle as they play always made me smile. I looked at the time, 5:15 Pm. It was time to start getting ready for dinner so I got up and went into the kitchen pulling out three chicken breast. I grabbed a pan and some olive oil coating the bottom of the pain. As it warmed. I seasoned two of the chicken breast with spices adding chili powder and parsley. I let those sit to the side while I cooked the unseasoned chicken. This would be chopped up small for the girls to spilt with macaroni and mash potatoes. I flipped the chicken over starting both the sides to cook. Once the chicken was cooked to perfection I sliced it up into baby bits. I grabbed their play with the cute butterflies on them and added chicken to both along with macaroni and mash potatoes. I also added a couple of cut grapes from snack time cause I know how much grapes are their favorite. I set them both to the side to cool as I grabbed their sippy cups and filled them with apple juice. By the time I had me and Shay's chicken done cooking the girl's food was cool enough.
"Dinners ready!" I called as I walked back into the living room. Shay had both the girls and were tickling them as they wiggled about giggling.
"I knew I smelled something delicious! You boogers ready to eat?" She asked and they nod still giggling. She scoops them both up under her arms and stands walking them into the kitchen. I take Zari and set her in her highchair while Shay gets Ali settled. I set both their plates down along with their sippy cups and plastic baby forks. They both waist no time ditching the fork to go hands on into their food. It was worth the shot. I go back into the kitchen to bring out me and Shay's plate and she smile."It looks so good babe." I blush a little and sit across from her.
"Thanks hopefully it taste just as good." I say as I take a bite. It was and Shay's face showed it as she cut a piece of chicken and then cut another and another. There was wasn't much conversation which I took as a complement while everyone eat.
~
Once dinner was over the girls needed a bath. They were covered in chicken, ketchup, and all sorts of articles of food from dinner. Me and Shay tag teamed the bathing process, washing food out of one twins hair while the other was getting bathed in the night time soothing shower wash. We switched and soon had them both dried and dressed for bed. We carried them both to their crib which they shared together and put them down to sleep. Shay leaned into to kiss them both as I cut on the soothing lights and music. Shay left out and I cracked the door behind me as I side. I remembered that the kitchen still needed cleaning and as if she read my mind Shay pulled me close.
"Why dont you go relax some. You've had one hell of a day, I'll clean the kitchen."
I smiled and kissed her as she kissed me back holding me close. I broke the kiss to giggle and she patted my butt. "Go before I change my mind." She said and I shook my head.
